Hey Y'all, As you know, I have never had an opportunity to go all cray cray or be thoughtless on the forum. I am a serious guy. But, I decided to loosen up a bit. And Go Canada! Go Victoria! Go PG Music! Go Hermann's Jazz Club! Or was I just lost on Cadillac Avenue? Hmmmmm..... Anyway, after reading a post on modal music on another thread, I decided to give it a whirl. The post on Soundcloud should cover it. I also threw in an ad for PG Music via a link for the crowd, when they go nuts. Xtra bonus points for people who know why I called it "Dorian Gray." This runs through every possible mode in the key of C (the seven modes of the root scale) and every modal chord that would make any sense, all tongue in cheek. Also, there is a lot of jazz gibberish from people in the crowd, who are awed by the jazz genius of this, "live" from Canada, and supposedly close to the home of PG Music, but the listeners are so drunk they don't know where they are. I think I recognize the vocalist, and it might be me, I am not sure, because I was too out of it to know if I was up at the mic. So I guess I will never know. Hope it was not me. Quite a ride, David! Very original.
Love the scatting, reminded me of Louis Armstrong in places.
As to why you called it "Dorian Gray", Dorian is a mode and Dorian Gray is a character from Victorian England, you tied that into the home of PGMusic, Victoria B.C.??

David, this is extremely creative! It sounds like you dug up Satchmo for parts of this song  What ever you are smoking I'll take some  Those modes put me in the mood for practicing  I doubt that you where in Canada because you didn't mention anything about hockey  Loved the song!

Well that was... something. I had this vision of a jazz club, filled with David Snyder clones. They were heckling the David Snyders up on stage... but very politely, because they were in Canada. A fight broke out between the music theorists and the "I just go with my gut" contingent, and Peter Gannon tried to break it up... Crazy, man!

I take it those weren't Marlboro Lights you were smoking before you put this together. the Marlboros were never that crooked.
Dorian Gray, huh? well, of course. Who wants to get old and cultivate wrinkles deep enough to plant corn? I'm guessing that as your body matures, your brain is fighting it - saying, "Hell no! Let me be young for ever."
Pure craziness in the best damn way. That was very entertaining! A+ for creativity and the fine display there of.
So cool it has frost all over it!

Seriously... no, just kidding. Well, it has little or no connection to the painting in the attic, so I'd go with the Dorian mode. But who's Gray? This may not be my favorite David Snyder song, but it's my favorite David Snyder. I dig that guy.
Seriously though, this is quite entertaining. Makes me wish I was there. It's obviously and audience tape cuz they're so freakin' loud, but I bet the show was sensational.

It takes gentlemen of exquisite taste and musical knowledge to understand the deep complexity and sheer musical genius of the extraordinary talent behind this master work and I'm glad that you guys are sophisticated enough to appreciate it.
