What Do You Know

Back from Oklahoma Halfway cross Arkansas

Twenty miles over with an eye out for the law

Hoping I don’t find her in the arms of another man

Losing her once again is more than I can stand

She’s like something I had lost left laying around

She may be gone forever never to be found

Now I’m on the lookout gonna break my heart again

I ain’t in too bad a shape for the shape I’m in

I’ve been trying track her down it’s a natural fact

Now it looks like she has found me

What do you know about that

I’ve been roamin all around hoping we would meet

Cruising the old neighborhood walking every street

Looking in the storefronts even alleyways

It seems like an addiction I do it everyday

She’s like something I had lost left laying around

She may be gone forever never to be found

Now I’m on the lookout gonna break my heart again

I ain’t in too bad a shape for the shape I’m in

I’ve been trying track her down it’s a natural fact

Now it looks like she has found me

What do you know about that

Hi Tom,

Love it! I could also hear Hank Jr doing this. But I doubt it would be any better than this. This is some pretty hot cooking! And ain't it great when what you're looking for finds you unannounced? Ha!

The chorus is fantastic - great lines and music there. Well, it's all great, but that chorus has an extra shine on it.

Love that run-up on the steel as you break into the musical verse. And the steel sounds great all the way through.

I mentioned Hank Jr. as a good fit. But another thought crossed my mind - a group much different than Jr. - Little Big Town. Their unique harmony on the chorus would be a natural fit. That's my thought, anyway.

Great stuff. Stay well,

Alan

Excellent production Tom, love this kind of sound! I'm partial to steel anyway, but I love where and how you put yours in here - and glad you stuck with it through the break. As always you come up with great signature guitar lyrics. I love that line, "I ain't in too bad a shape, for the shape I'm in." This one really shines!

Tom, this kicks some serious rear end! Love the song and your super vocals. The guitars are next level stuff, and just pull the listener in. Great arrangement and mix, too. Seriously pro level stuff. Love it!

Another great rockin' song, Tommy.

You really are a master of this genre.

Yeah I suppose I could hear Hank Jr doing this song but now that I have Warren Zevon in my mind associated with your voice I can't get it out.

Did you ever listen to Lawyers, Guns and Money??

🙂

Keep on cooking with these man cuz you're doing a great job!!

Tommy...first off if I haven't said this before or enough you are a killer musician, writer and producer...this is crazy good in everyway...I love the swampy, Jerry Reid, chicken pickin', kickin' style...the guitar lick is insane and the entire production is pro-level...this is my favorite of yours (until I hear the next one that is)...!!
