I'm running Cubase and other professionel programs at 48 Khz - this is industry standard nowadays (film, video, streaming services etc)
But when I load BIAB it changes my soundcard (RME Fireface) to 44.1 KHz and locks it there.
Please give us an option to run BIAB in 48 Khz - or at least don't hijack my soundcard!

the problem from my tech background i suspect if pg programmed to allow every single sample rate and bIt depth it will mean more code bloat.
so one programs for the commonest sampling rate.
this stuff isnt trivial from a tech perspective.
other considerations are file sizes and pc power. lots of people are still running old daws further complicating things.

we used to have a saying in tech 'everyone wants standards as long as its theirs'...
obviously rme which are great interfaces and every other audio interface supports 44.1 still ecause its so widely used.
otherwise this wouldnt be offered.

for me i love to record my vocals etc in flac iaudio in a daw i use...but unfortunately not all programs support it....sigh.
i know its frustrating dealing with such issues ..it bugs me too...but thats just the way it is.

lots of debates and articles on the net re 44.1 and 48 khz....and bit depths etc etc.

happiness.

You are correct, and this has been discussed. 48 KHz sampling rate should be supported.

I agree so

If PGM were to modify the code for this suggestion why not modify it for all sampling rates?
I believe some/many will ask for more that 48 KHz.

Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

That's a good point. If they can support anything other than 44.1, then supporting several other rates should be made possible.

I'm lost on this one I have only been running 48K for years and BIAB works fine.
I can use it in any of the driver modes at 48K.
My windows default drivers are set up to 48K.
The drop zone supports 48K.

What am I missing?

That’s interesting. I wonder if it’s dependent on the individual’s sound card.

I have in the past, but my interface also supports WAS also, so I use that so I can use it with my DAW using ASIO.

Does it also show 48k in the BIAB/Preferences/Audio settings window?

I have in the past, but my interface also supports WAS also, so I use that so I can use it with my DAW using ASIO.

So are you saying that you use both ASIO and WAS at the same time, or did you manage to get BIAB to work in 48 kHz in ASIO alone ?
I can't get BIAB to work in 48 kHz, and it tears down all other programs unless they are set to 44.1.

Label me gobsmacked.

I understood from pg in the past that bb was 44.1 and for 48k use realband.
See pg tips forum re doing 48k in rb.
Scroll down the forum page.

I suspect that bb 44.1 is being resampled on
Import to another daw set to 48k ??

Om.

I have lost track, but until I stopped using Roland hardware MIDI synths a few years ago, I had to set all hardware to 44.1 sample rate to make it work with BIAB. I hadn’t thought to try to change it and see if it worked.

The Realtek soundchip on my laptop is locked at only 48k sample rate (unlike my external sound module, which I can set to any rate). BB seems to play back fine at 48k, but I've not tried recording audio (which I suspect BB might have a problem with unless it resamples back to 44.1k). PGMusic should really step in on this question, as the comments here provide a lot of speculation, but not definitive answers.

Yes
i run Studio One ASIO 48K
BIAB WAS driver 48K (this is set up in Windows first)

For Output Devices (Speakers / Headphones / Interfaces)
Right‑click the speaker icon in the taskbar.

Select Sound settings.

Under Output, click your device (e.g., Scarlett, Realtek, USB interface).

Scroll down and select More sound settings.

In the Playback tab, double‑click your device.

Go to the Advanced tab.

Under Default Format, choose:
48,000 Hz (48 kHz) — typically 24‑bit 48,000 Hz or 16‑bit 48,000 Hz.

Click Apply → OK.
-----------------------
For Input Devices (Microphones / Interfaces)
Still in More sound settings, switch to the Recording tab.

Double‑click your input device.

Go to the Advanced tab.

Under Default Format, select:
48,000 Hz (48 kHz) — again, choose the bit depth you prefer.

Click Apply → OK.
------------------------------
Step 3 — Disable Exclusive Mode (Critical for BIAB)
BIAB using WAS/WS will crash or switch rates if Windows allows exclusive control.

For every playback and recording device:

Advanced tab

Uncheck:

Allow applications to take exclusive control

Give exclusive mode applications priority

Apply → OK.

---------------------

FYI: If you use the BIAB plugin in your DAW it will use the same ASIO driver.
