Hello all.

I recently purchased Synth V because I was interested in being able to get more variety on vocals. I am thoroughly sick of listening to my own voice and am beyond trying to change it 😆.

I quickly learned that you have to be pretty darn good at creating a midi melody to use it and even then it was really quite a strain to type in and line up all the lyrics. I was further annoyed when I asked for a refund and was refused.

Anyway, I am taking part in FAWM and someone mentioned Musicfy which will generate an AI vocal from my vocal.

Here is my latest creation for anybody interested.
When Weavers Call Your Heart

It was in response to the FAWM oracle card challenge. '

The tools I used to create this song are as follows:
I used the Oracle card picture and LyricLab to get the general lyrical idea. I used Band-in-a-Box for the backing, RealBand to record my vocal, generate the harmonies and make the arrangement, Melodyne to tune my vocal (I think the more in tune the original vocal is the better the results with Musicfy will be), Musicfy to generate a lead vocal, Nectar on the AI vocal and finally Ozone (pop preset) to master.

I am interested to hear what others create with this tool and how you think it compares with Synth V.

Edited to add: Full disclosure: I just discovered the Musicfy also has a very simple affiliate program so if you use the link above it will take you to my affiliate.

If you find Musicfy helpful that is great!

But to refer to it as an "alternative" to Synthesizer V is misleading. They are apples and oranges. Synthesizer V is a full-fledged program to automatically apply AI voice models to your melodies, and to customize and tweak the performance. If you find you first have to be "pretty darn good at creating a midi melody" that is correct, but the program never promised to write melodies for you. Unfortunately you will have to do that yourself, the same as most any sample player or Synthesizer. There are, in fact, a few alternatives to Synthesizer V that have been around for a while (like Vocaloid or Emvoice) and the best new one is AceStudio. But at this stage, for what it does, Synthesizer V is the most capable and realistic, as thousands of demos on the web have shown.

I understand it does not suit your needs, but there are programs that can help you compose melodies in the midi format which can be imported into Synth V (including BIAB) and the lyric entry in Synth V, once you get used to it, is faster than just about any program available, including notation programs like Dorico and Sibelius.

I am not sure about the automatic composing of Musicfy, but the ability to change your voice to another model is more advanced in programs like Kits.ai (https://www.kits.ai/) and other similar programs.

Joanne, I do not use either piece of software but I must say that I much prefer your regular voice over the posted altered one. YMMV

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Joanne, the new version of Synth V has voice to synth conversation. It will create the Synth V midi from a simple vocal track you record. Not only does it pick out the melody but it will also grab the words from the vocal with fairly decent accuracy. I have downloaded the beta version which has this feature. I'm not sure if it's been released yet as a new update but it's not going to be long. You can get the beta version by asking.

The better you can sing, the more accurate it will be.

Thanks Thomas. I see kits.ai is similar to Musicfy. Musicify is probably cheaper because there does not seem to be a restriction on minutes. I will give kits a go though.

On a side note, what I am really looking for is an ai (with api) that will generate an actual song from some lyrics. There is suno.ai that does quite a good job but there is no api.

Thank you Mario, I appreciate the sentiment but I think my voice has a few constraints… I think it is very old fashioned😀

Thanks Herb. I may give it another try but I am a bit peved with them at the moment 😖

For anybody who may be interested, I decided to try out Musicfy a bit more. I created a "modern sounding" duet cover of Stand By Me. My husband (who is not a musician but has a good ear) said there seemed to be something wrong with the female vocal but could not put a finger on it. Comments and criticisms. most welcome.
