Here's one workaround that I find works on weird things like this.
Not saying this is not a bug, just trying to help workflow... we'd need more specific info like which instrument and style to test; I have done this procedure many times.

Highlite the region, select 'Track-Consolidate audio region' (or better yet use 'select all' and consolidate)
Not sure why, but often on audio tracks this little thing helps solve weird little problems. Worth trying anyway.
It may be a system resource thing, or memory allocation, but broken up (unconsolidated) tracks sometimes exhibit these weird things.

To those who have read this before, sorry to repeat, but it does indeed often help. Even more so when rendering with plugins involved.
