She's The One on Soundcloud
She's The One on YouTube

This song is a reply to someone who asked me why I always have a smile on my face like George Burns and Joe Riillo. The fourteenth of February is Valentines Day, or Friends Day, or St. Gregory's Day, or something else depending on where you are on the planet. So this song is in lieu of flowers. Although the song says “she,” and I'll emphasis that part to my wife, there are an awful lot of folks here who have significantly broadened my smile. Thanks. Wait! Did I just call y'all an awful lot?

She's The One

You maybe wonder why all the time I wear this big smile on my face.
Well, I'm such a happy guy becasue she's the one in my embrace.
She's the one who'll be there when the going gets tough.
We'll face our fate when it comes.
Whenever I need a boost of support, you know she's the one.

You know that she's my soul.
She's the one who takes all my breath away.
She's the one who makes me whole and I'm forever going to say,
She's the one who'll stay with me through thick and thin,
the one who makes life more fun.
If ever you can see a light in my life, you know she's the one
who turns me on.

Maybe someday soon you will find for yourself
a special one to bring out your smile.
Then let go all else, leave behind all your wealth,
and live out your life down Love's aisle.

Eliminating strife from your world you need to seek some selfless soul
to make a better life where you can let your smile take control.
She's the one who does it for me every time.
She shines more brightly than the Sun.
If ever you can see a light in my life, you know she's the one...
Oh, she's the one.

What a beautiful and cheerful song! Made me smile, for sure smile . Besides the usual writing and performing standard that I know you will consistently produce, I will say this: so many love songs, these days, are so darn serious (looking at myself as the chief culpable, here, haha wink ) ... it's great to hear a lighter song, which celebrates love, nevertheless. You've nailed it. smile smile smile

This is a good one Marty. You really hit the nail on the head. There's a great feel to it all the way through it, and had me smiling all the way. Great song. I love that bass of yours, and thought the sax was an excellent choice. Your vocal really shines as well. Great enjoyment with this one.

Marty, just...wow. I mean, the image of the two of you together is amazing on its own. But the song itself is a high spirited but gentle rocker that just blows my mind. Great singing and playing throughout, too. Just to be selfish, I'd like a TINY bit of more bottom end on your vocals. But even if you did that, I couldn't love your song any more. Great work!

Hi Marty ...

The perfect song for the season. So, what's not to like? I'd say - nothing.

Excellent vocal - maybe your best yet. Your bass lines always perfectly fit whichever song you're doing. You have "that touch" that many bass players would like to have - but don't.

Sweet lyric, great backing tracks. It has everything.

best to you,

Alan

Hi, Marty.

Upbeat and happy... Which makes me happy to hear it. smile

And like Al-David, I'm also wondering if that's a young and un-bearded Marty in the picture. Inquiring minds want to know!

Marty, I'm listening in mono...that's a test for a mix but this mix is solid mono or stereo.
The melody is a nice gentle lope and the warm, honest vocal delivers yet another honest love song from a new master. FJ is the king of bitter sweet and you are top deck with open hearted love.
ACE BASS - though that's a given.

Cheers

Great song, Marty! The tenor sax is perfect for it.

Thanks, floyd. [no one used caps when communicating with e.e. cummings either --respect!) Yeah, sometimes a lot of work went into that luck.

Thanks, Torrey. When I wrote to sell I just sang sans souci. Now I practice a couple weeks before recording. hehe

Thanks, Ron. That image was after we won the LL District Champioinship 5-2. Our son pitched a great game. Although I lost my famous black infielder glove, we werre still smiling. Thanks for the bottom-end suggestion. I never like my vocal, so...

Thanks, Ray. Again you remind me to do something I used to do all the time --test in mono. Yeah, that open-hearted stuff went our with the Roaring Twenties, so it's easy to be at the top when no one else cares to steal the throne. smile

Excellent Valentine's Day song, another big smile song from the master of the big smile songs smile Yes, I also wish that maybe someday there's a similar muse to inspire me to write highly positive songs like you smile
The all-conquering positivity is present in the gently flowing melody, in the smooth band, lovely sax and of course Marty vocals delivering Marty smile around the world, thank you!

Hi Marty,

Yes, you are always so positive. In all your comments and your songs.
Never a black moment..., at least you can hide that very good.
I love this lovesong. Also because the words you used. So lovely.
I think even my wife can fall in love with you (if she didn't have me, of course)
On YT I wrote what a nice song you made here, but I have to do that in this forum too!
Because you made a very lovely song.
