Stabbed In The Heart

I'm back after a horrendous two weeks of not being able to long onto any Internet site. Old computer fried and bought a new one. However all my passwords were on a thumb drive that was plugged in to the computer. They went bye-bye, too. It got very complicated after that. Won't bore you with the rest of the story.

I want to thank everyone who commented on my previous song - which I was unable to reply too. It's now near the bottom of page two, so I didn't want to drag it back to page one. But, I do appreciate all the nice comments about it.

This is one I wrote a few days ago. I was able to get back on to the forum just 20 minutes ago.

I will get back to listening and commenting this evening. Hope you like this one. It's a Smooth Jazz Fusion Piece. It's the first 12/8 time signature I've used in quite a while. It has a Bluesy character.

This is absolutely beautiful. I'm tired, it's been a long day, and this has been the equivalent of brain massage, for me. Thank you so much for sharing. Some of these modulations are just ... outta this world smile really. Superbly done.

Allan, I'm glad that you are up and running again and that you can post more of your excellent songs.
Great use of those RTs.
Great mix.
It's funny as I didn't get the stabbed in your heart feeling, just a jazz blues feeling. I was expecting a stabbed in your heart song with more pain, passion, and maybe a little distortion. But that is just me.
Regardless, this is a great instrumental.

This is just beautiful, Alan.
I love the guitar noodling, and this is a really good mix that lets the guitar shine.
Nice work!

Alan, cool piece! I'm still amazed with how you can lead the BiaB players through a L-O-N-G jam and create the feeling of a real band. Lots of personality in that soloist RT, and you've arranged the musical narrative very skillfully. Like the space you put in at about the 3:00 mark, too, as well as the ending. This song breathes really well. Nicely done!

P.S., SORRY for your hardware issues! We've all been there, and never want to go back...

Hi James,

As usual, you are much too kind with your comments. But I sincerely appreciate them. I'm delighted I could give you a bit of comfort after a challenging day. That's a very nice compliment. And a feel good one, too.

I do like to play around with chord progressions. But I try to choose the right songs in which to do that. This song seemed a good one to throw in a few surprises. I'm most delighted you found them favorable.

Many thanks, my friend.

Alan

Hey Mario!

I'm still having a few issues to resolve, but things are mostly good now.

I guess I should have mentioned in my opening narrative that I was focusing more on the regret than the anger. My bad. But I'm glad you found it enjoyable anyway. Many thanks! I always appreciate your comments, observations, and wqhen need, suggestions. They're always helpful.

Wishing you all the best.

Hello Brain!

I'm delighted you enjoyed the song. when I auditined the lead guitar RT, I went no further. I knew it would be exactly what I wanted - and it was. Thanks for mentioning it. The mix was pretty easy (for a change!) and everything feel into place pretty quickly. The biggest challenge was the volume of the organ. At first, it seemedf a little loud. So I dropped it down just a notch, but the song just didn'y have the feel I wanted, so I moved it back to where you heard it.

Thanks a bunch! wishing you well,

Alan

Hi Ron,

I always smile when I see a comment from you! Your support and kindness to my music are so appreciated.

It is a bit long, but when it was just two verses, it seemed to be lacking a full definition. So, the last verse stayed. Thanks for sticking with it!

I've always thought a well-placed drum turn around in some songs give it enough pause that what comes after it is a bit fresher to the ears. Its kind of like a key modulation, although not as definitive.

Thanks so much. And yeah, computers and the associated entities are great when everything works fine. But when they don't ..............!

Alan

Hi Scott ...

Thank you so much for those very kind words! I was surprised how well the lead track turned out. I was/am very pleased with it. It's one of the truest Pop-Blues sound I've yet heard in the BIAB electric guitar RTs.

Thanks for the listen and kindness!

Take care,

Alan

Hi Allan,

I'm not normally into instrumentals but this is an exception and an exceptional song with an excellent chord progression and lovely cruisy feel.

Well Done

Best Regards

A very tidy mix Alan...it has a 70s Australian vibe to it - sort of Richard Clapton style of backing.
Ace.

First you have my sympathy for your computer problem.
I lost a pile of stuff when I changed mine.
Your track has a lovely, relaxing sound to it.

The guitar at the beginning is reminiscent of a slightly bluesy Pink Floyd. I really like the style, very relaxing.
