My friend Christiane doesn't have her studio setup at the moment, she is moving soon, so you will have to suffer with another vocal from me eek

The Band:

~674:Organ, B3, Background Blues Roadhouse Ev 120
4249:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BluesFunky Ev 120
FunkHalfNotePulse: a: Snare, Kick b: Busy Kick, Snare

Percussion: EZDrummer3

Marty Straub (BabuMusic) is playing the bass, and I'm playing the guitar leads.

Mixed in Reaper, mastered with Ozone 10.

Roll Them Dice (2024, Dave Bell)

(V1)
Don't think twice, it's time to take a chance
Feel the rhythm, let your spirit dance
In this game of life, you gotta pay the price
so don't think twice, just roll them dice

(V2)
Every choice we make, every risk we take
could be good, could be bad, there's a lot at stake
But don't be afraid, just take the leap
theres joy to be had and benifits to reap

(Chorus)
Roll them dice, let fate decide
Just sit back, and enjoy the ride.
No turning back now, we took a chance
roll them dice, and enjoy the dance

I think I've already told you that, you actually have a pretty good voice, it always reminds me of Chris Rea.
Raspy with a lot of character.
Of course you don't sound like Chris, but, THEN I would be worried smile

I like your song, and your guitar noodling and Marty's bass foundation _always_ work well.
Keep 'em coming!

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Good Music.
Guitars sound great. Bass & Drums, too.
A nice Blues Rock write.
Good Mix.

Your vocals are Good. Very song/genre "appropriate".
You seem to make the vocal "small" (in the overall). I think you need to make it Bigger. Not Louder (though it could be some), but Deeper, Thicker, Beefier. Bold (not Shy). Proud.

Hi, Dave.

Good song - popping drums, screaming lead guitar, cool vocals (but a bit too quiet)...

I'd say something nice about the bass, but it's only tastefully staying in the pocket and supporting the song instead of being flashy and in the way. wink

As B.D. said about the vocal... Oh, the suffering. grin

Cool stuff! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Dave, I rolled the dice and listened to your song
You have such a good voice you should sing more, i.e no suffering only enjoyment.
Great mix
Super job Dave and Marty.

Once again a brilliant song! I'm always re-amazed at how much talent there is on this forum, both re lyrics and musicianship.

Dave,

I'd take a gamble on this any time!

Your voice sounds so perfect for this! I do agree it could come up just a bit in the mix. The only suffering was after it ended - I wanted more!

Your fretwork is superior - you almost amaze me with your playing. And Marty - well, his bass lines are as goos as, and better than, most of the RTs.

There's a ton of talent showing through here. And I loved every bit of it.

Take care,

Alan

Dave, your guitar work is incredible and the more I hear your voice the better I like it. It’s a good blues write and Marty lays down his usual rock solid lines. The production, especially the drums sounds great. Another in a long line of modern blues gems, Tom

Nice bluesy song. Lyrics are great, guitar and bass playing are great, great use of Real Tracks, the Drum sound especially great. Mix and production spot on .... and your vocals work for this, they give it a real smokey quality.

Well, I'm not intentionally trying to make them small smile I spend WAY more time trying to make my vocals sound halfway decent than I do with a vocal track from Chris, hers are easy 'cause they sound great even with no processing. But, I'll keep plugging away at it wink

Thanks for all the support over the years, floyd, very much appreciated!

Dave...very cool tune...as usual the level of musicianship you and Marty display is impressive and enjoyable...nice vocal too (although I must confess I'm missing Christiane's vocal...IMO the best female vocalist around these parts)...so keep writing them and help her set up that studio ASAP!

Well everyone knows that vocals are just filler, most important part of the song is the guitar solo laugh

Thanks, David!
