Bob and I - 2-11

BobH came over on February 11th, hence the very clever song title. Sometimes we will jam something then look at each other and say how in God's name did we do that! This time it was while we were recording. Bob is playing the acoustic guitar and I'm on the electric guitar. This is our one and only take. All I did was to bring both tracks into Melodyne to adjust the volume of some notes and correct only three notes. Because it was recorded with a click track it was easy to bring in Band-in-a-Box for the remaining tracks.

BiaB style= Home Forever MIDI Country Ballad
Tempo = 41 PBM
I only used the bass and piano tracks.
Bass - Ample bass - upright
Piano - EZKeys 2 - Dream Machine - Celeste Plate
I added a string track by taking an EZKey2 piano groove and using the Amadeus Full String Ensemble as the sound source.

As always all comment welcomed.

I arrived early to a restaurant.
The manager asks, "do you mind waiting a bit?"
I said no.
"Good", he said. "Take these drinks to table 3"

Hi Mario,

This is very pretty, and when the strings came in, it upped everything and became mesmerizing. Really nice, particularly since it was a one and done. Indeed - very nice!

Pretty and mesmerizing is right!

I love stuff like this. The sounds are gorgeous I have to say and the mix is really, really well done.

I could listen to stuff like this all day long.

Great job you two.

Nicely done Bob and Mario!

Good job on the track, but my favorite part of course is the two guitars, the way you are playing off each other. Good stuff!

Mario, you and Bob certainly have a musical connection. Many times the first take is the best take before the mind gets involved and screws it up. Good job capturing the magic, Tom

Adam-12! Adam-12! 211 in progress in Mario's studio. 211 is theft, and this tune is you guys. Thanks for letting us steal a listen. Those Mozart strings were the right choice for this, and you and Bob are in the same room, on the same page, and play so well together. Relxing and inviting. "See the man with the Melodyne."

Enjoy whatever happens!

Great job combining the real and virtual together, gentlemen! There is a mellow feel in the forum today with Alan's guitar melody and your and Bob's track here. Both are very relaxing and helping me shed the work day blues!

And that, ladies and gentleman, is why you KEEP THE TAPE ROLLING...

Mario, you and Bob have quite the musical chemistry. Love that you could keep the theme moving and evolving on the fly. Very nicely mixed, too. Never would have guessed the way this one developed from listening to the final product.

This should be the soundtrack to one of those ASMR nature videos.

Super duper job!

Hi MarioD,

Very soft composition, very pleasant to listen to. Melodyn is a great tool for readjusting sometimes dissonant notes. Well done.

Thanx David. Mixing was the hardest part of this song so thanx for noticing it.

Thanx Tom. Yes Bob and I do have a musical connection even though we come from two very different musical backgrounds. Yep, first takes are always the best takes.

Thanx Elliott for this very kind review. The harmonics were what I increased in volume via Melodyne. It made a big difference IMHO.
