Background
This is a cover by Colors in Motion but the problem I had was I couldn’t find a drum pattern in BiaB that worked so I used a drum pad instead. My request for better search capability is here.

RealDrums Search Request

Because there is no BiaB content (or any computer generated stems) in this song, the need for “humanizing” is not needed. In fact, you might say this is humanizing on steroids 😊

Technicals
105 BPM
Me
Korg Keyboard: String Pads, Dulcimer, Steel Guitar, E-Piano, Wah Clavichord, Clarinet

Roland Drum Pad: Congas, Snare, Floor Tom, HiHat, Clave

Fender Bass

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Thanks so much Mario.
My doubts on this one came from not having computer generated drums, I'm sure the tempo is all over the place.
In any event, glad you liked it.

Hey Laurent, thanks for the listen and glad you liked it.
Thanks also for re-introducing me to the term polyphony.

From Wikipedia:
Polyphony is a type of musical texture consisting of two or more simultaneous lines of independent melody, as opposed to a musical texture with just one voice or a texture with one dominant melodic voice accompanied by chords. Within the context of the Western musical tradition, the term polyphony is usually used to refer to music of the late Middle Ages and Renaissance.

And I happen to like the British band Renaissance wink

Nicely done.
A very "modern" sounding track. Well mixed.

Steve, very cinematic and cool. This would make a great soundtrack for a movie sequence. All of your instruments sound great and have their own place in the mix, which is very clean. Wouldn't worry about your tempo. Bassist have better timing than drummers eight days a week. (Kidding, drummers!) Ha!

Hey thanks Floyd! I always appreciate your feedback.

As for the mix, I tried to apply your advice from the last one you commented on.

Hey Ron, thanks for the listen and kind review.
Your joking comment about drummers really gave me a good laugh laugh

I like your song, it has a nice relaxing, almost calming eastern vibe that I like.
Despite your attempts to mess up the timing, it still sounds a bit MIDI-ish at some places.
But it still has a lot of charm, so there's no real reason to change that.

Very nice Steve. I thought it was a very well done production and I really liked the bass throughout.

This is cool, Steve. Sounds nice.

You were in fact successful in nearly copying the sound and all of the melodic notes of the original, which I listened to.

Mission accomplished there. Now, for the Elephant in the Room.

Any thoughts on the covers rule? Is there a reason you think it should only apply in certain cases--but not here? Like I would love to cover Hey Jude and stuff but they say you can't.

It is a genuine question Steve, and you know I love your stuff so don't take offense. I am not grandma. Just interested to know your thoughts. When they say "no covers," how do you read that, and do you think it does not apply here?. If so, why? Again, real question. If people start flooding the forum with covers, that would be a problem for PG. Well, if Steve can do it and get away with it...

See what I mean?

So, how do you see this?

David, thanks for the listen and review.
You are right. I failed to read the guidelines.
Any idea of the logic behind the no-covers rule?
