I've been working with some Western Swing arrangements. I'd like to create a song with twin fiddles playing in unison. My thought was to create a fiddle track and freeze it, and then copy it to the melody or soloist track. I'm stuck on the copying part. Any thoughts, please.
I have BIAB 2022.
Thanks!

You can go to Edit > Copy Special > Copy/Move Tracks. This will let you copy or move one track to another track within Band-in-a-Box.
Best, Chantelle

I tried that but was stumped what to do once I was in that window? Hopefully, these tips will help. 1: Select the fiddle track from the drop-down menu, 2: Select the destination track and 3: Press OK ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=27527&filename=2024-03-02_7-27-27.jpg)

Thanks Audio track, but when I do that the destination track becomes an artist track (in orange) and the track description says mono-32 bit?

Thanks Audio track, but when I do that the destination track becomes an artist track (in orange) and the track description says mono-32 bit? The artist performance track contains either a recorded instrument, a vocal or an imported audio file. BiaB uses the color orange in the track name. I don't know why PG Music gave the copied track that nomenclature, but does it play and is it a copy of the original track?

There is a subtle difference between PGM created Artist Performance Tracks of recorded instruments, vocals and imported files and user created Artist Performance Files of recorded instruments, vocals and imported files which are classified as UserTracks.
7. Artist Performance Files.
These are audio files, that you put on a track, that can also have the MIDI transcription of it. People hear the audio, and see the MIDI in notation/guitar tab etc. For example, if you are a great bluegrass fiddle player, you could put your songs in this format. People can listen to your real playing, see the notes on screen, slow them down etc. - all inside Band-in-a-Box where they can do other things like solo/mute other tracks, mix them etc.

Thanks! If you simply copy it, you end up with a perfectly in sync copy of the original which really doesn't sound like twin fiddles playing. It'll be pretty much mono in the end. To get the twin fiddle effect, you would need to vary the copied track in some manner. You could use EQ to make it a bit different sonically. However, the better way is to vary the timing and pitch of the individual notes in the manner a pair of live players would be slightly off from each other while playing the parts. You could place one track slightly ahead of the other by a few microseconds but that too introduces the possibility of comb filtering. Altering the pitch and timing of the notes is harder to do....but randomly editing one of the tracks in that manner would give you the best results. Melodyne is perfect for this kind of editing. Take it one phrase at a time. Doing it this way doesn't actually take all that long because the twin fiddle parts most likely are not going to play solidly throughout the entire song. This is how I do vocal pitch correction. Maybe an hour at most. Play around with the offset between the tracks and change the pitch (ever so slightly) in a few random areas and see if the results are what you're looking for. This kind of editing is easier to do in a DAW where you have more control over the editing process.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanks! If you have a newer version that has Playable RealTracks it only involves generating the RealTrack, freeze this RealTrack, Rt click and select Track Actions\ Copy/Move Tracks and copy just the Midi Data to another Track, Click on the Playable RealTracks Button, Muter the entire track region, select all the notes and make selected notes playable assign a fiddle playable instrument and in Mixer slightly alter the volume, panning and tone controls and play the track. You can also edit the velocity and some notes a bit in the Piano Roll of the Playable RealTrack if it sounds too much like a double rather than twin fiddles.
