I know that many have weighed in on different aspects of this, but I want to make sure that three points are clear:

1) We should be able to easily specify any time signature for an entire song, at any resolution (quarter note, 8th note, 16th note, etc.)
2) We should be able to easily specify any time signature for a given measure or range of measures, at any resolution
3) We should be able to easily import MIDI files in any time signature without BIAB pushing everything into 4/4

Regarding points 1 and 2, we should not be restricted to quarter-note time signatures (in 2009.5, the choices range from 1/4 to 14/4, which is very limiting). I have a song right now that needs to have measures in 4/4, 9/8, 7/8, 6/8, and 6/4 (or 12/8, if it helps). If I were allowed to choose x/8 signatures in 2009.5, this would work right now. So, here I am shopping for another application that will allow for this easy transition from measure to measure. It looks like Jammer can do it. So I'll probably have to buy it.

I do have quite a few songs that I cannot put into BIAB because of the time signature limitation. Think Arabic music as well as classical. We need greater notation freedom! Please get the user interface out of the way and help connect the human to the desired result! That's the way to design software, even if it means a rewrite of the core engine. Thanks.
