And now onto the dark side. I grew up on blues in Chicago long before I got to Country. I love

all styles of blues. This one is a bit swampy.

It was written with the following Real Tracks. The only two that made the final cut were

RealTracks in song: ~688:Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 065

RealTracks in song: ~673:Organ, B3, Background Blues BB Ev 085

The rest were various assorted loops and my live guitars. Thanks in advance for any

comments.

Bad Dreams Bad Luck

Bad dreams and troubles haunt my worried mind

I’ve always fought the blackness seems a little different this time

Bad dreams bad luck never very far away

They walk along right next to me Every single day

First I lost my wallet then I lost my ring

Next I nearly lost my mind if there’s such a thing

Bad dreams bad luck never very far away

They walk along right next to me Every single day

I’ve been my own worst enemy always taking two steps back

Then I fall on down into this hole and try to climb up out of this trap

I lost my job I lost my house lost everything that I owned

I’ve lost count many years ago of all the chances I’ve blown

Bad dreams bad luck never very far away

They walk along right next to me Every single day

Tommy, very cool and swampy indeed! Everything sounds great, especially the slide guitars. Nice arrangement on the ending, too. Almost forgot: great write and vocals! Really enjoyed it.

Tom,

Love this song and the opening is awesome! Everything about this top shelf. The arrangement is a real standout.

Superb vocal and mix. Some really epic guitar sounds. A new favorite!

Hi Tom,

Great song, a bit menacing and really swampy are the right words for it. So, super cool!
I like that heavy guitar sound, the base, your vocals, that's about everything in the song.
Oh, I forgot the lyrics. Well that's a bad dream you're in, man!
I'd like to shout "wake up"! But then we'll never get this great music again.
So dream your dreams and tell, ehh sing us all about it!

I'm your fan,
Hans

I love the blues and this is one of the best.
Outstanding vocal and lyrics.
Loved the band!
Great mix.
Loved it.

Has a bit of a slow ZZ-Top minus the organs vibe ... love that.
And I LOVE your guitar noodling, great tone and loads of character.

This is really, really good [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Man, this is really awesome!!

Down and dirty bro.

I have a suggestion for the lyrics though.

In the intro, you should go Aw haw haw haw. Aw haw haw haw.

If you do this, I think people will cover this song til the end of time.

Just a thought.

Tom,

I think Bad Dreams Bad Luck are expressed very well.
Your vocals and guitar are a powerful cast of pretty dark blues.
The use of organs etc. are also very nice.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Way low down. Deep down Blues. Oh, so good. Love this band, but I wouldn't want to stand under that drummers cymbals. (Why do they always put drummers on risers?) So well sung with feeling and so well played with expertise. Good lost-it-all lyrics, too.

"I lost my job I lost my house lost everything that I owned

I’ve lost count many years ago of all the chances I’ve blown"

Yeow!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Bob, thanks for all that. I'm glad you mentioned the opening. It took a while to get that because I kept laughing.

I really love your guitar work on this track! Though thematically the lyrics reminded me of Marvin the android from Hitch-Hiker's Guide (paraphrased): "Here I am at the bottom of a deep, dark hole. … Now, what does that remind me of? … Oh, yes. … Life! … Don't talk to me about life." laugh

Exciting mood created with gloomy lyrics, instrumentation and strong vocals. Nice to hear something different from country, still equally pleasing. "Next I nearly lost my mind if there’s such a thing" that's dark smile I can imagine that hollow tree scaring in the swamp...

I really like that raw sound, heavy guitars and tight drums, reminded me of ZZ Top on their Mescalero album. Professional mix.

It's all great Tom! Country and Rock were both born out of the blues and boy you are right at home here!
Your work here in all respects is top shelf stuff!! Voice and guitar are killer as usual! Love that bridge section!
Thanks, TB

I understand why the spoken intro is there but it doesn't quite work for me - probably because there's the sound of plugging in preceded it.
The song WOW - you did a really solid blues rock thing..Reminds me of John Lee Hooker on Townsend's The Iron Man album.

HI Tom,

I've been away from the site for a couple of days - tons of medical appointments for Di.

What a terrifically cool song! Strong drums and lead guitar. And, of course, the vocals never disappoint.

I've had times in my life when the song would have described my plight. Fortunately, that was many years ago.

Cool intro, and the string slide at the end was anice way to take it out.

Way too cool!!!

Alan
