Hello forum friends,

This is my second post of the year.
This time too, I have prepared a live band version and a BIAB version.
The live band version was recorded at my music circle's recording session, which was arranged in fusion ballad style.
The BIAB version was arranged in swing jazz style and the piano part was live recorded.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics
:

A wave of people is overflowing from the ticket gate
I found you whose head popped out
I’m sure I must have looked angry
While I quickly hold down my relieved heart
You can see easily my feeling in my gestures or in my eyes
Which is helplessly spilling over
Is this normal though we just met
The trick of fate has begun

I wanted to meet you anyway
I've always wanted to meet you
But I didn't want you to know my feeling a little more
I really wanted to meet you
I really missed you
I can't hide my feeling anymore
It's so revealing that it makes me laugh

Hiding the bouquet of violets behind your back
You say “I'm sorry I'm late''
I've experienced the trick before
But I'll take the language of flowers seriously

I wanted to meet you anyway
I've always wanted to meet you
But I didn't want to tell you my feeling from me a little more
I really wanted to meet you
I really missed you
I can't hide this feeling anymore
It's so revealing that it makes me laugh

Shigeki, I really love songs in this classical jazz form, and you've done a great job here demonstrating how the same chords and melodies can be creatively explored and reinterpreted. Both versions are nicely arranged, played and mixed. Both vocalists serve the song quite well. I really, REALLY love Miya's piano work in the BiaB version. I'm curious as to your choice of MIDI instruments for the BiaB version, as the jazz RTs frequently sound quite nice to my ears, though you do of course lose some creative control.

Anyway, great write, expertly produced as usual. Really enjoyed my listens!

I like both versions, for different reasons: the live band version has AMAZING vocals with an almost French chanson feel, the BIAB version has a great groove.
If I were asked which one I would prefer, I'd say "both" smile

Great work with both, Shigeki Adachi!

LIVE: Ooo, a Jobim feel. Really nice, Shigeki. Your very talented friend Takako sounds great, and, man those strings are a wonderful composition all by themselves.

BIAB: It's now Stan Getz plays Antonio Carlos Jobim, and it sounds great. The melody still has that Brazilian hint. You have some wonderful friends, Shigeki. Natsuki is sensational and I could listen to Miya Nakajima all day --and night.

Loved 'em both!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Ron,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
And many thanks for listening to the both versions.
I am really glad you like this tune.
I'm glad that you like Miya's piano so much.
She is the No. 1 pianist in my region now.
However, this recording is very old, and I met her when she was young and asked her to record it for me.
At that time, RealTracks didn't exist yet, so I used MIDI.
By the way, her current performance is even more amazing.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

Great 40s big band swing tune. I liked both versions, interested to hear both Live and BIAB side by side like that. Excellent vocals on this track. Very nice

Not easy to sing but well done and the piano solo is perfect (BIAB version). Personally I prefer the live version because it gives the singer more breathing space and has a very romantic and retro side that I love. The orchestration with the violins is also great.
A success, great pleasure to listen to.
Shigeki It's excellent.

Shigeki,

I just listed to both tracks - they are both great, but that fusion version is absolutely sublime...

Love the singer, arrangement and mix. What a great, great sound.

Hi Shigekim

Wow - I listened to both versions and probably prefer the Live version with the slower tempo. I am amazed at the breath control of the two singers doing a great job with all those lyrics.

I wonder if it is possible to pair down the lyrics a bit to give the vocalists a chance to express themselves a little more - especially on the faster BIAB version.

Regardless I loved the song and your arrangements are spot on.

Well done.

Best Regards
Nigel

Shigeki Adachi,

Beautiful music.
Live Band Version - Big. Full. Both band and vocals are stunning. Excellent mix.
BIAB Version - Nice vocals. Wonderful piano. Good BAND.

Enjoyed both. It was like listening to 2 different songs.

So much talent on display...

Shigeki,
Both versions are fantastic.
I liked the live version for its warm instrumentation.
I liked the BiaB version because I like jazz swing music.
A great job on both versions.

I get most of my exercise these days from shaking my head in disbelief.

Very nice these two versions!
Different style and tempo.
The vocals of your friend are very nice.
We like both versions, but we would say they are suitable for different situations an different moods.
The live version when you're at home on the couch and need to relax.
The BIAB version when you are feeling happy and want to swing and dance smile

Good job!

They both sound great and the vocalists are excellent!

The swing version vocal (and the entire song really) is bouncy and playful.
Love the piano!

The fusion ballad live version sounds more serious ... but in a good way.

Your work with BiaB and with live productions are outstanding. Pro level arrangements and productions all the way.

All meaning we enjoyed both!

Hi, Shigeki.

I listened to the BiaB version first. Loved the "locked hands" intro and piano playing in general. As others have said, Natsuki has impressive breath control! Pleasant melody, excellent arrangement.

The second version is very much a different song... and very nice as well!

The only part that makes me sad is that there's not a real trumpet on the introduction. wink

I've got an EWI - if you send me the MIDI file, I'll be happy to send you an audio file of the trumpet part.

Very nice work on both of the songs! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Both versions were excellent Shigeki. I always tend to lean towards your live productions. Beautiful vocals and instrumentation. BIAB version had a cool vibe and bounce it. Loved it as well. Well done..

HI Shigeki,

I listened to both versions and thought both were great. The live version is dreamy and romantic. Tjhe BIAB version is bouncy and "spirited".

I slightly preferred to BIAB version because I really enjoyed the swing feel.

Both singers are excellent! Your music always puts a smile on my face.

Wishing you the very best,

Alan

This is truly gorgeous Shigeki!

I loved everything about these, the music, the melody, the singers, the arrangements, everything.

Wonderful.

I like both versions, as I say, but the orchestral version knocked my socks off.
