If you are using the full version of Kontakt and not the Player there may be an option. Set your Kontakt volume slider to max. Open Kontakt via the wrench in the upper left hand corner. Set the amp volume to CC11 then do your automation in CC11, i.e. expression. This is how I use my breath controller in Kontakt patches that do not respond to CC2, i.e. wind controller volume.

Note that when I was using jBridge to wrap 32 bit programs to a 64 bit operating system sometimes it worked perfectly, sometime only partially, and other times not at all. It is a gamble using wrappers.
