RE NEW BBTV BECOMING SONG CREATION CENTRAL.

Let me lay out what I feel bb (and/or rb) need to slay the market....feel free to add your own dream ideas.
(let's not forget in BB the need for the big clock and big chord display for the vision impaired like in rb ?)

my dream list for a little company from bc slaying the market.
(BBTV = the new lovely bb tracks view and NDE is non destructive editing.)
Basically BBTV is the musos work center.

1..NDE in BBTV.
..hilite a section of audio or midi track i.e. a clip and like in rb right clicking highlighted section brings up a menu of user editing commands. including all types of typical daw editing commands.
and including the commands one gets by clicking in the bb audio edit view ...and the same right clik menu includes a regen a clip or track command. ie right clik menu is editing central..ie expansion of the brilliant rb editing concept.
..editing in context with one's other daw tracks. ie like in rb and other daws i can see all edits in conjunction with seeing all my other tracks.
makes it easier to do subtle movement of notes or clips back or forward in time…and line bits of track up with other tracks.
eg a early/or late drum shot or vocal note.
result the bb audio edit view is no longer needed.
..use of cursors in editing for fading in/out clip, changing volume of clip which is highly useful e.g. in balancing sections of vocal tracks in detail. more precise imho instead of using a plugin for evening out things.
..editing of both audio and midi tracks in BBTV. instead of editing commands at various locations in bb.
ie editing central in BBTV.

2..ADDITION OF SPECIAL TRACKS.
(under the bbtv timeline.).
..a chord track which takes over the functions of chords view.
..a song section labels/markers track. whereby the user can enter 'intro' or 'verse' or 'chorus' or bridge or outro or whatever. I/V/C/B/O is how us songwriters typically think when creating songs.
..a lyric track. self explanatory.
..a tempo track.
(or this could be built into the chord track to save space)
note re graphical vol automation like in rb or some daws i'm not a fan.
For us vision impaired we can't often draw in the points properly. which is why I prefer the use of an up/down cursor on a section of track. By comparison vol automation is too 'fiddly' to enter and get right from my experience.
..maybe a special drums creation track. as drums are unique. eg for building drum solos etc like putting shots
where they are needed.

3..OTHER NICETIES.
..added functionality to the current bb reverb/eq mini feature on each track which I find highly useful for 'quickie demos' instead of useing vst plugins that might be cpu hogs.
ie a new low cpu usage 'mini channel strip'. comp/lim/noise gate/simple eq/reverb.
one knob for comp/lim and one knob for noise gate idea. of course vol/pan included. eq and reverb same as now.
..addition of features that might help the vision impaired further.

Hopefully the above would lessen the learning cycle for new users, and be even more daw like.
because the current chord/one track audio edit/mixer views would not be needed.
ie time would be saved for the user flitting between different views.
and the advantage for pg i would suggest strategically to keep users in bb rather than needing to use other music apps. because BBTV would be a musicians song creation work center.
I'm sure lots of people are like myself, i.e. tired of flitting between different music apps and the time this all entails.

i'm sure ive missed something….lol.
anything ive forgotten i'll add.
feel free to add your own wishes.

happiness to all users and pg staff.

It must be very difficult for the vision impaired to use BIAB at all.

Me myself I have normal or good vision for my age, but I have for most of the time major problems reading some of the meues in BIAB with their very small and tiny fonts.

Most menues can not be configured with bigger fonts.
Some of the menues have got an option to select font size in later years which is very good, but this is only available for a few of them.

Also there is big a problem with the fixed color scheme eg for the mixer, I can hardly read its dark green fonts (and I have not found any way to change it).

Things like this makes it so tiresome to use.

I have posted this issue several times before.

I like the OPs idea about a "chord track", not in lieu of, but as an option.
Great idea.

Good ideas for sure. I don't understand the one knob for eq and compression idea. EQ requires that bands be adjusted, and compression is similar. a good requirement for Comp is a slider that adds compression and a meter that shows the level as it is added. A great rule of thumb is to look at the channel strip in Harrison Mixbus. Or the Harrison 32C plugin. Both of these have simple precise and powerful EQ/Compression/Gate/Send adjustments on every channel. this almost eliminates the need for added plugins. RB needs something like this, BiaB Just needs VST3 completed so add in plugin work.

Tempo and time signature, chord track super + 1

Type in Lyrics track. Hhhmmmmmm Interesting! Right now, there is a line, and bar-based lyrics feature bar based is easier to use. What is that could be popped up on the timeline and the lyrics could be cut and pasted in then spaced by cursor then they would play as the time pine advanced or toggled off until needed?

Rob.

re eq maybe i wasnt clear re bb.
in BBTV ON EACH TRACK...
easy peasy for new users.

..one slider for comp lim.
..one slider for noise gate
..simple 5 slider eq
..rvb like currently.

Rob...its not meant to be a fancy channel strip in order to keep cpu use down. if a user wants more just use advanced plugins like the H.
My concern is high cpu use plugins on clunky slow pc's...not everyone is running high power processors...
thus this might impact track gen times which are instant right now here.

btw check out airwindows plugins sometime on you tube.used by lots of big boys...loads of them but for advanced users who understand how to use dsp routines.

happiness.

That was posted about 3 years ago: Old Muso's Bar View so it's getting there, it just needs the editable Chord track, region names track, and the instrument names in the track items, so you will see where instrument changes occur on a track giving you the "Bar View" you wanted in the Track View.

Have this in the Track View of Biab:

The little white arrow could open up the automation lanes for vol, pan etc.., you will also have clip volume and fades that will change visually the waveform.
You could also show the current pitch change amount in the clip visually rather than having to right click to see.

mcity.

please dont make me drool...lol.
i came up with the idea of a new bars view cos for many years i used originally the powertracks
bars view which i found highly usefull for dealing with midi tracks and kept up thinking of things i would like in bv.
then i got into bb...and went oh how i wish re bv.
i really wish i could do graphics like you. particularly as the great eye surgeons have improved my eyesight.
as you know give me the editing of big R v2 and i would be ecstatic.
if bb had new bars view plus big R v2 editing i'm sure
users would be very happy because of the control it gives them and they wouldnt need to flit between various music apps.

respect.

OH GOODNESS. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME...LOL.
AND MAKE ME DROOL.
NAILED IT !!! I REALLY HOPE PG SEE THIS.

perchance to dream.
if pg did that with some other little doodads i reckon
users would beat a path to pg's door.

i'm looking at that fab graphic with my new eyesight and just going nuts with desire...lol.
dont forget to grab a note in a track and being
able to move it back or forward in time eg a vocal note.
dont forget other wishes in my op ie special tracks...
chord track, lyric track tempotrack etc etc etc etc...see op..

now please add a right click menu like rb for all the other features eg features from bb one track audio edit view accessed from audio edit view edit button etc..
and OH MAMMA !...flexibility...
eg regen a highlighted track section etc .copy a section...
etc etc
no more one trick pony audio edit view and no need for mixer view.
ie a one view creation center for us musos.
no more flitting around.

add a seperate bars view for all tracks like your graphic for tracks control eg holds shots etc etc ie a track command center and away we go...lol.

well well done.

wow. kudos.
