D mic preamps. ie darlington technology from my checking ? It's not really Darlington. I think the D really just stands for Discrete, meaning that it has discrete transistors at the input, rather than going straight into an OpAmp. Yamaha's description says "inverted Darlington", but that's not a correct name for what they're using. They're what I've long known as a "complementary feedback pair", though I've just learned it's also known as a "Sziklai pair" or the "Sziklai connection". It's a configuration I'm more used to seeing in power amps, but then usually in class-B configuration. It's quite a nice configuration.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

Yeah but, how many of those wiz bang audio interfaces give you the Sydney Opera House sound FX like the old on-board RealTek ? I tried to message the OP, Easterndriver, to ask if any of this was at all helpful to him. If I were just starting out, I would be very confused by most of the posts here, and in fact he disengaged after two posts.
However, I got a message that he was 'over his private reply limit'.
What does that mean??
Is there some limitation on new forum members not receiving private messages until they make more posts? Something else?

Yes, some features are limited until a certain threshold has been 'accomplished' in my experience (from memory and others references) .. not sure if PMs is one of them, been a long long time since I hit any thresholds here
