Re: Plugin, the author is looking at it the wrong way, you have the new Tracks view, Notation view, Audio Editing already in Reaper and other DAW's, with professional editing and VST3.
Reaper is why Biab now has a Tracks view with non destructive Riff Editing, Reaper has non destructive audio editing, Biab audio editing is still destructive. You don't want all the bloat in the PLUGIN like Biab as the DAW will have the functions needed, you want the PLUGIN to be easy and simple to use without a big learning curve, users already know how to use their DAW, the PLUGIN in Reaper gives the raw recorded tracks instantly ready to process in as if they were just recorded.

Still, the DAW Plugin lacks many features I now find indispensable, including the new Tracks view, the MultiPicker Library, Notation view, Audio Editing and many other functions. The full BIAB 2024 program has actually reached a level of mixing and editing capability that can completely finish a song production right in BIAB (see the Band in a Box® Radio reference below). But the DAW Plugin is there if you want to work mainly in your DAW and use BIAB only to generate some arrangements.

MCity, i agree with your Keep it Simple recipe. I do think that the plugin need two things to make it complete.

1. it need the ability to have true partial regeneration. the ability to highlight a section and regen just that section.

2. the MTP window need to be included. Having all the pickers in one place is sweet.

On a side note i would love to see the BiaB riff gen added as well instead of the old 7 track riff system that both the plugin and RB has. not sure if that one is vital but it would be so cool.

I also know several are asking for VST3 nice if it happens here as well, but to me i can do that in the DAW.

Last thought I guess i finally came over to Reaper this year. I still like Mixbus but it's development is way behind in some areas. I purchased the Harrison 32C channel strip on sale and it works great in Reaper. Being able to in one simple plugin dial in the compression and basic EQ is like magic. You should check it out.

I have Ardour and I purchased Mixbus, yes it is behind, I went to the forum and tried to get them to improve
the Lua scripting handling by adding some user GUI elements as it was limited to having only a few scripts you can choose from at a time. They have gone to the trouble of making so many Lua bindings for so many functions but you are so restricted how it is. The scripting could be vastly improved to allow users do just about anything rather than waiting for the developers to add the features, as with Reaper that allows users to do anything but it seemed to fall on deaf ears with the developers.
