I use a tab at gigs now when playing solo. Outside it can be a pain due to sunlight and heat. I've had my tablet overheat a time or two and just shut down. Tracks just stopped playing in the middle of the tune. Took me a second to fire up the phone while the tablet cools down.
You just never know what will happen.
But you know it will My keyboard has a black-painted steel body and on sunny days I regularly wipe it over with cold water to keep is at least cool enough to touch ... a test/gazebo is definitely a good idea. I've not had any of my tablets overheat, but maybe they're just not bright enough to do that.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
