I guess it's a matter of preference, but I haven't been happy with Nero 9 or Nero 10. Nero 8 was the most stable version and did what I needed. Unfortunately, it's doesn't like Windows 7 (well, at least the 64-bit version; I don't know about the 32-bit version).

I can't really recommend Nero in its current incarnation. They really turned me off with version 9 (when it first came out) and the installation set restore points for everything it did (so you ended up with hundreds of restore points just for installing Nero), and it literally took about 12 hours to install (assuming it didn't crap out along the way, which it did for many). They've fixed those problems now, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.

I know others here are using some different free programs, so hopefully they'll chime in.
