Hi Folks.
Had been away from the forum for a while. Aside from a tight schedule, I am taking some time off to write some tunes without influence and to learn using some of the virtual musical tools that I have that I've collected. Great to see that the User Showcase is active and people are doing creative things. I am dedicating this tune to my musical friend Ray (rayc). I think this would be inline with tunes that we did in the past. I hope he forgives me for some structure / incorrect word usage and we can still be friends smile In my defense, I had very little time to track vocals.

Pending Questions

Lyrics:

The tones of tragic overtures, a sudden drop in temperature
Clandestine artifacts in open wide aperture
Planted thoughts, fake applauds - Virtual existence.
Accelerated corrosion of resistance.

Stop pretending that you are the center of the universe,
A gigawatt amplifier of "ultimate truth".
Questions pending if this is a blessing or a curse,
If you are moving forward, or hitting reverse?

Deep well of solitude, pleasures of the interludes
Clandestine artifacts in a heart's amplitude
Stranded dreams, tainted schemes - mimics of existence
Domesticated the power of insistence

Stop pretending that you are the center of the universe
A gigawatt amplifier of "ultimate truth"
Questions pending if this is a blessing or a curse
If you are moving forward, or hitting reverse?

Misha,
another fine, fine song.
I LOVE the bass.
The outro is picks up the intro and both tie a blue ribbon around the piece.
Contemplative, almost existential lyrics.
It reminds me of the Bureme experiment in that I didn't know what was coming.
An unusually long solo for you - it worked really well.
Thank you for the dedication - it is something I'll cherish.

Cheers

Great composition and instrumentation. The song really moves along and I love the synth-sax part, plus the tin whistle has become a favourite instrument to sample. Lyrically it's very poetic ~ I was tempted to say something like "I was impressed by way line 3 of verse 3 counter-pointed the metaphor of the whole" laugh but that would be paraphrasing a comment on a painting in 'Hitch-hikers' Guide' from the 70s radio series (which was way better than the abbreviated book, TV series and movie! laugh

#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Misha,

Sounds great!!
Some exquisite stuff going on here compositionally.
Kind of like a Russian version of Coldplay!!

smile

I think I may have asked this before, but what part of the world do you hail from? Don't want to name the wrong country when I say "Russian" but it has that feel.

This incurred visions of a sci-fi movie set in the apocalyptic future but with some clans dressed like folks from the Middle Ages (tin whistle against the techno boop-boop-boops)

Great vocals and lyric and a heckuva band and mix to present it all.

All of the multi-sourced tracks fit together exceptionally well.

You are a wordsmith!

Enjoyed it!

HI Misha,

What a great song! You have a great assembly of instruments from the various sources. In my opinion, this is a super vocal - perhaps the best of what I've heard from you.

A very satisfying listen - smooth yet exciting. It's contemporary and fits perfectly with today's music.

Wonderful lyric, arrangement, and mix! It has everything it needs to be a perfect listen!

Best to you,

Alan

Missed you, MIsha. What a wonderful way to come back. Love this!! Cool beat and very cool (albeit subtle) bass sounds. Yep, I hear Ray's influence and inspiration. Your lyrics are like none other. So poetic and insightful with phrases that tickle the mind into understanding. The production is outstanding, man. No matter how "used to" your brillance I become, you never fail to renew my respect.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Misha,

Glad you are back! Every time you come back you surprise me with a very intriguing and also beautiful song.
But this does not mean that you should stay away from the Forum more often. On the contrary...
There are always a lot of -musical- things happening in your songs. This one too.
And that rhythm, man that sounds so nice.
I had only heard one surprise; your vocals don't sound like in your other songs.
There they always were upfront, but not here. Is this the new Mischa?

Hans

Misha...super track and intriguing lyrics...I often reminded my son as he was growing up that he was not "the center of the universe"...I like songs that ask question for the listener to contemplate...I really enjoyed this!

Hey Misha, you have an ominous yet diffuse style in wordsmithing your songs.
Several dead oppressors came to mind while listening to this, and several that are still alive came to mind which kept me wondering who you were singing about.
That said, this is intelligent and engaging even if I have pending questions.
Good job.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Misha, another interesting lyric from you and the production has your signature.
For me, in places the drums cover up your vocal but that's no real problem.

Misha,

Production/Arrangement Chops on Display.
There are a number of good producers on these forums...you are in a class by yourself.
Stunning Percussion.
Stunning Synth work.
Is the opening piano an EZKeys pattern? It has a cool Carole King quality to it...
Nice use of the Tin Whistle.

This is Great Listening.
High Quality Production.

Hate the snare sound (or whatever that is), but everything else is SOOO cool.
Vocals, arrangement, mix is really as good and unusual (in a positive way) as I've come to expect from you.
Very good!
