And here is the second song as promised when launching "Change of Times' with Anne-Marie.
This one will be less populair, because it is about People with high fat content. But it's also about those companies that stimulate this.
Fat Guy, https://on.soundcloud.com/XKKLchure8WVwogZ9

And on YouTube:

Marty and I are not representatives of the title, we are moderates. But speaking for myself; I have to be careful (a little).
But we both think those companies need to take their responsabilities...

I think the song is not that populair. We noticed that when releasing it on SC and YT. Compared with Change of times, it's can be a looser.
Still, Marty and I had a lot of fun while making the song. Listen to how he handled that bass: Great (if I'm to decide).
I hope you can too. The lyrics are on SC and on YT in the video.

Let me know what you think of it and...
have another fries,
Hans

Maybe I just have a sick sense of humor, but I laughed so hard all the way through this that my fat ol' belly was jiggling! Unique song and funny video ... and great sounding bass.

Hans and Marty, this is a very clever song. You had me smiling throughout it.
Great video, super vocal and lyrics, and a great mix.
I have noticed that a lot of young people are over weight!
Great song.

Hi, Hans.

I enjoyed the song, from a musical standpoint, that is. laugh

IMO, It's the same message fat people have heard for years: If only you ate less and exercised more, you wouldn't be fat.

But most people who diet end up gaining back the weight and more, and an exercise routine is difficult for most people to maintain.

Certainly, obesity is a real issue. But from what I've heard from fat people who get told this, this particular message is rarely helpful.

Still, nicely done. And yes, even the bass. wink

Hans, great production, and yes, that bass REALLY pops! Also love your harmony vocals and whatever FX you're using on them. That's a neat sound.

David makes the points I might make about the topic far more eloquently than I can, so I'll just leave it at that.

I do appreciate your thoughts on corporate responsibility. That's another complicated topic.

Always enjoy listening to your music, looking forward to your next!

I like the sense of humor you guys have smile
Good work from both of you, good lyrics, good band, good bass.
Marty's vocals could be a bit louder in some places, but overall it was a very enjoyable listening experience.

Wish there was an "un-see" button for the video though sick

Catchy rock song, very nice arrangement with usual Hans surprises. And Marty's bass has enjoyably fat sound smile Great work with the rolling bassline. Kind of neutral and descriptive story, but "I'm no more ashamed" is a good positive way to resolve it.

And excellent video, it had many funny moments, like the fat statue and Napoleon. And I got hungry watching those pizza slices laugh I think I need some more fat, because I'm freezing outside so easily wink

Hans and Marty...really good production, band and performance by you guys...I do find it interesting that the thought would occur to blame the fast food industry for people's obesity problems...that would be like blaming the alcohol producers for drunk driving deaths and alcoholism...not sure anyone wants to do that...maybe McDonalds should just put a label on their products with a warning like the tobacco folks do or put some really small print at the bottom of their advertising warning people not to eat Big Macs and drive like the beer folks do...who knows? cheeky song and video for sure wink

A humorous treatment of a serious subject. But I can understand why this wouldn't be generally popular in our societies; due to an obesity epidemic going on.
Sadly, and for obvious reasons, I can't say that I've ever seen an old fat person.
Marty's bass was big and fat if I do say so and I liked the vocals.
Overall, well done.

Brad

Hi Brad, yes, I think you have a that. Like we. But I gave it some message, along with the fun; Obese is a problem and our food and drinks help to let that problem grow.
In my country we have a suggar tax on drinks with sugar in it. I don't know if other countries have it too. Ooh, Belgium too.
It doesn't help much, I think. I also let that fat guy overcome his shame. That's a good thing too, I hope.
It was Marty's granddaughter (12 yrs) who asked Marty if that man (me) was making jokes on fat people, because she has fat friends to.
That's where I changed the lyrics in overcoming the shame. Good thinking of her!
And Marty had a lot of fun, while playing the bass. And good too!

Great song.

Hi Mario, you're always on my party. Well, more to come soon!
I am happy you enjoyed the video too. It is always a challenge to make them. Marty does 3 videos a week, I think. I can't.
I hope we can do something about it, as I wrote to Brad, taxing those companies so to force them offering more healthy food.
I know, healthy food is not fun to eat. We eat vegan meat 4 times a week. I can't say I like it all, but less meat can help on many frontiers.
But here we are only for the music. Glad you like it!!!

Hi David, thanks for the compliments on the song from a musical standpoint.
But IM(H)O you missed a point in my song. I don't have the message you wrote I had. Look what I wrote to Brad and Mario.
My points are; being fat gives a lot of problems you can't overcome easily. Shame is one of them. But it's good if you overcome that.
And we also need to think about how to solve the convenience of getting fat fast food. Taxes are one of them, but these companies must have their own responsibility. Not just the big wallet.
But I know that won't be easy. But health problems that arise from this also cost a lot of money.

Thanks for watching and listening,

Hans

Ron, Brain and Janne,

Hi, thanks for posting your nice comment. In my intro to this song I wrote it won't be much of a succes. Well, I noticed that is the case.
People might think I was having fun at the expense of the target group. Although that is not at all the case, I knew that making this song this could happen.
So no whining on my part, just keep going.

Hi Ron, I don't use much fx on my vocals. Just an eq and compressor for vocals (in general) from Native Instruments, a reverb and delay from Fabfilter and that's it.
So thanks for that. And you joined David C in his comment on the topic, so I would recommend you to read what I wrote to him (post above this one).
This is not the case, I meant state-/ corporate responsability AND learn to overcome the shame yourself, by accepting who you are (last part of the song/video).
But of course I can't describe all issues about obese in a song from 4 minutes, that also has the intention of being a bit joyful.

Hi Brain, thanks for this. But Marty wasn't singing. I did all of that. Marty played the bass and was laughing loud, but not in the mike.
I am not experienced enough to build 'unsee' buttons in YT, or videos that can do it themselve. Will you help me with that?
Or... go to my SC page!

Ha Janne, that is indeed one of the 2 points I wanted to make in the song. The rest was a brief description of the sensitivities involved in this topic.
Have you seen me in one of those photo boards (appears last in the bottom center)? The one with the sunglases and the grey hair...
Thanks for your nice comment!

Hope you all have a very nice day today,
Hans

We enjoy the humor but we think it is a huge problem with far reaching consequences, i.e, well being, rising health insurance costs, etc.

The band, vocals and Marty’s bass sound excellent.
The mix is nice and snappy … sounds great on the monitors.

The video is entertaining but most of the food should be served with a side of blood thinning sauce. smile

Well done y’all!

This is a great rock song with irreverent but fun lyrics. Love the fiddle solo, and heck I really noticed the Marty bass. All really well put together.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Thanks for inviting me to this controversial song, Hans. Much much fun. Unfortunately most listeners will take offense to what seems politically incorrect. Yet what I hear correct about it is how corporations only care about profit lines while convincing their customers that they're making fast food for their benefit. There is not enough money in healthy fast foods, I guess. Still, you ended the song where the fat guy finally accepts who he is, which is the best attitude one can adopt.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Dan, David and BT,

Thanks for your nice posts and thoughts about the issue. The discussion that rose is interesting. Of course not one second I have thought the song, the lyrics or video would claim a solution to the problem. Maybe thinking about it is a good thing.

Dan, In our country we do blaim cigaret and alcohol producers for doing that. It doesn't help much, of course. Photo's of lung cancer on packages only lead to an exchange of them to complete one's collection of horror photo's. But I still think we can raise awareness of this issue. And let them deal with it so they don't get stuck in shame.
But beside all that, we had fun making the song and video too. Thanks, Dan!

Hi David, it's a pitty Mickey D is not known here (in my country). And we also haven't Super Size things like coke or fries. But we have Super Size bills!
Thanks you called the song 'dope'...

Hi BT, my sister, who lives in Australia for many years, called me and told me why it won't be a populair song/video. Whatever the message is, people will still see it as a song against obese or fat people.
And if they are too, they will ignore the song, or something similair. She and her husband are very skinny, so they see the problem, agree with it, but think it won't do anything.
And I agree with that. We also think war is bad, but we have more and more of it nowadays...
Thanks for your compliments!

Have a sunny day!
Hans

Hi Janice and Bud, Wao, Marty, Scott, Dave and Bob,

Great to read your nice posts on the song! I knew this song was not becoming a hit, therefore it is a bit too controversial, or as Wao wrote: "irreverent".
That's why I appreciate your responses all the more.

Hi J&B, I was working on a song this morning, and listen back to Fat Guy. Indeed the sound was better than the one I was working on. So you're right.
Changed the new one immediatly, of course.
And you're also right on the problem I sang about. Or better, we're both right. But does it do any good?
I think the government should increase taxes on food companies, but in your country that would be too controversial.
In my country they are thinking about it because the costs of health care are rising enormously.
This means that the costs for our society are getting (too) high.
But thanks a lot for your very nice comment!

Hi Wao, Thanks for this very nice comment! I was wondering if the lyrics are really 'irreverent'. I think I was too modest, don't you?

Hi Marty, that's a very nice comment and also very true. And at the same time it;s you playing the 'fat' bass... ;-)
I enjoy playing with you. This time we won't score a hit with this song, but one day, Marty... One day!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
