So, since I am a really patriotic guy, but don’t find much to be patriotic about these days, I decided to write a song about my lovely patriotic wife, who represents the best of America to me, in too many ways to count.

I am a southern boy who ran off to New York City for a long time in his youth, but she is from Jersey. It is a beautiful thing. Jersey girls are the best. Just ask Tom Waits.

Anyway, in our house we stand for many American values. We also stand for parallel mastering. On this song, I tried a new trick I learned on YouTube that is based on a technique utilized by the famous engineer Andrew Scheps. What you do is, you create a secondary master buss where you additionally send all of the instrumental tracks except for the drums (which have their own buss), and then you add additional magic to that Secondary Master Buss (aka Rear Buss) that you place side by side with the master master buss. It just so happens that I have the Andrew Scheps Omni Channel plugin which I put on the secondary master buss.

Hope you enjoy this.

P.S.

I should also add that in my template, I also have an instrument buss that receives all of the instrument tracks minus drums with the effects that I'm using on those instruments. So really I have two rear busses. One is the buss where I send the instruments with their effects, and the additional Scheps buss receives those tracks as well with extra pixie dust applied. Then those find their way to the master buss.

AMERICAN MADE
By David Snyder

V1

She says she’s from Jersey
And that’s ok by me
Cause she listens to Springsteen
And she was born to be free
And she’s friendly with Jesus
And she’s friendly with me
And she looks like a woman
In the sun or the shade
And whatever I owe her
She’s says she’s already paid

CH

And she’s American made
Sexy and strong
And she’s American made
So I wrote her song
Sings like an angel, and her love never fades
I thank God that she found me
What else can I say
She’s American made

V2

So I drove her to Pittsburgh
To see McCartney play
And she said that she loved me
When he sang Yesterday
And she’s a Rock ‘n Roll Mystery
She’s a Rock ‘n Roll song
And when I feel her kiss me
That’s where I belong

CH

And she’s American made
Sexy and strong
And she’s American made
So I wrote her song
Sings like an angel, and her love never fades
I thank God that she found me
What else can I say
She’s American made

V3

So I’m not watching TV
Until I’ve cast my vote
Cause all of those people
They’ll just be cutting my throat
I’d rather be with my sweet girl
By some mountain steam
Because inside of her heart
She’s my American Dream

CH

And she’s American made
Sexy and strong
And she’s American made
So I wrote her song
Sings like an angel, and her love never fades
I thank God that she found me
What else can I say
She’s American made

David...I fell in love with this with the intro...did you write this for or just about Springsteen? this certainly sounds like something he would cut (though the line about himself would be a little narcissistic I suppose)...I bet your wife loves this...points are always good!...well written and performed...terrific song!

I don't understand the rear buss, front buss or any other kind of buss but this is a good tribute song to your wifey.
Nice guitar work.

And I certainly hope she looks like a woman in the sun or the shade! smile

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Wow! Great song, nicely arranged and passionately sung. The guitars are really cool, too.

The production is very dynamic and lively, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm hearing. It MIGHT be a pleasing amount of "good pumping". At any rate, I love it. Will definitely be checking out the rear bus technique.

Go Gayle!

Your playing on this is fab.
American Made/maid is a pretty good pun.
Of course I'd love a verse in their that had some inclusion in it... sort of like
"Her dad's from Kansas & her
Mum hails from Japan
And she said that she loved me
In three languages man
Yeah she’s a Rock ‘n Roll Mystery
But I won't do her wrong
When I know she's beside me
That’s where I belong".
Nevertheless - fab piece of art sir.

Cheers

Hey Dan,

Well Bruce has closed many a show with song he did not write, Jersey Girl by Tom Waits.

BUT, that is the only one.

So just as they say in Dumb and Dumber, even though there is only a 1 in a million chance:

"Are you saying, I still have....a chance?"

Hey thanks Bob.

This was a lot of fun to make. I have learned some new mad skilz (I think) watching Andrew Scheps on YouTube

See my most recent post just now on the recording forum.

Scheps does all his mixing in the box on cheap headphones. I.e., he has the same stuff we have.

Any reason for not producing radio ready from your hotel room is just an excuse these days.

David

Whatever ingredients you used to cook up the mastered result here sounds really clean and rich to me! Great pop/rock tune that has one of your best vocals!
I love how you take the things/people surrounding you and craft them into really good songs like this!

Man! You have outdone yourself with this one, David, one of your best I think.

This has it all, great write, excellent vocal, and I'm enjoying your guitar work also.

I read your comments on parallel mastering, a bit above my pay grade I think wink But I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the tip.

WOW Dave this is a great song. It's Petty and Springsteen, and it captures that feel perfectly. Great Lyrics. This is one of your best.

Hi David,

I had in mind to tease you a bit, like you do to me. I had that orange guy in mind, but then...
Then I read the lyrics. They are good and clever in many ways!
So, I can only consider it, not only as a good song, but a wonderfut tribute to your wife too!
And that for a man that was originally 'Dutch made'.
Yes mr Snyder. In my home town Haarlem some years ago we had a lord major, also called Snyder.
Famous name around here. But sadly he was sooo vain. Luckily you are not.
And the song is Great!

Hans

Hi, David.

You hint at Springsteen via Tom Waits, but this sounds more like Tom Petty to me. Ah, I see everyone else noticed that, too. laugh

But what's this?

So I drove her to Pittsburgh
   To see McCartney play

You couldn't find any American singers, so you picked some random guy from Liverpool? wink

Pretty fab, anyway!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
