SamAsh has been here in my area for the past 20 plus years. About a decade ago (or more) I went to buy some guitar strings. Pulled up in front and there was a huge line out the door and around the building. Walked up and spoke with an employee at the front door, "Whats going on?" He told me that - Fall Out Boy - was here and signing their new album. I told him I only needed slinky 10's. "No problem" he said, "...come on in and I will escort you through the crowd to the counter". As we walked right up to the front of the line and entered past the screaming fan, he says to me, "Since your one of the first in the building, Would you like to meet Fall Out Boy? To this day I regret not accepting his offer. Truth be told I had no idea, at the time, who Fall Out Boy was! But I wish I would have been adventurous.

The Sam Ash in White Plains, NY was a mainstay for me for decades. It was the closest really good pro audio music store without having to drive into New York City.
I bought BIAB there in1993.

Oh yes, Alto is great, but my main in-person place is Parkway Music north of Albany. Sweetwater does the rest.

I am also absolutely amazed that Guitar Center is still on life support. Their prices are expensive and the help is like someone working at a fast food joint. You can just hear the job satisfaction in their mannerism.

Yes, of the two, I thought Guitar Center would be gone well before Sam Ash, because of their well-publicized financing woes. I guess Sam Ash had a similar situation but didn't get the same press coverage.
The Guitar Center near me looks like it was stocked and cleaned by former Dollar Store staff.

Yeah the Danbury CT store is a mess and is badly stocked. I buy more from sweetware when i buy. Actually i just don't buy much anymore i have what i need except strings and such.
