Small change big difference?

It would be I guess an easy task for developers to offer an option to have the Mixer Horizontal.

Volume faders goes Up and Down and the Panning Left & Right, and it's the Standard in all Consoles.

You’re right, that is more common. In the specific case of BIAB, now that we have many more tracks possible, it makes more sense to put them horizontally to take advantage of the monitor orientation.

Another vote of support. It is definitely more standard.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

As an aside, that's in no small part because our eyes are also more atuned to seeing vertical changes than horizontal, presumably a natural evolution for scanning the horizon.

Volume goes Up and Down in the real life and in a Mixer should be the same, Panning goes Left and Right.

And I suppose that it is not a big thing to program.' Little things that can have enormous impact?

the track pans in various daws i find not long enough for precision particularly for us vision impaired.

a!tho i gave a plus 1 maybe an option might be offered ?

maybe under the track details box in bb and rb on left hand side two long throw faders ..one for volume and one for pan ?

how about a pop up on a track that stays up while the user is adjusting and testing pan and vol ? then hidden again ?
this would allow a nice sizeable graphic display for us vision impaired ?
even tho ive had great surgeons improve my sight i still find myself squinting at various daw graphic displays in all music apps.

just an idea.

Often the rotary controls are better as one clicks, holds and moves, usually vertically, over a larger range. The visibility is still not great, though. I suspect they could be magnified whilst in use, but I presume the specifiers/designers/coders don't realise the potential benefit of that. Many controls in, e.g., DAWs allow one to type in a value, though that's far from ideal.

Hi,

My request for Christmas and New Year it’s only about vertical direction for the Volume faders and horizontal for the Pan, like 99% of the Pro Mixers.

The photo is a simple example that I have roughly made in photoshop with ingredients from BB Mixer..!

You're absolutely right.

Volume: Up / Down
Balance: Left / Right

It couldn't be a more obvious suggestion. RealBand does this now?

om, I like the way Studio One Pro handles this situation. Clicking on the track's pan opens a window where you can type in your setting, i.e. R15, L5, etc. Maybe PGM could incorporate such a system?

Gordon and Mario.

my comments...

1..ive tried dials find them 'fiddly'.
for example the only daw i'm still experimenting with is mtstudio..out of all i tested...due to its nice small footprint.
only negative is the use of various dials.

2..i'm wondering if for us vision impaired each daw track have two buttons on each track...P for PAN and V for volume.
a user clicks on either and a nice big graphic pops up on screen one can change in real time and hear the results like i used to in studios useing real audio mixer hardware.

3..yes some daws one can enter a specific value for pan or vol but i find this interrupts workflow testing out various settings...ie not real time.
eg rb does this and reaps.

4..the problem i would have with the op's mixer graphic is i would be 'squinting' at the faders....so...my eyes get tired.
ive found myself squinting a lot over the years at various daw mixing screens in daws.sometimes even tho the vol faders have nice long travels the pans are often short.one reason i like reaps v2 is (i dont use its mixer) i can see things pretty reasonably.cept the pan graphic is not very wide compared to the volume.
same likkle prob with rb.

happiness.

One issue with Left / Right sliders is the real estate required. With multiple tracks this can add-up. There are programmable workarounds though.
