Mornin’ everyone….

The title phrase came to mind about a week ago.
It glared at me for a few days so I finally got out the clip board, legal pad & pen and got busy.
Just a very simple I/IV/Ver about just being a regular guy and what I like with an intentional bit of levity.
Music/lyrics/vox/congas: me
Trap set & bass: BIAB
Guitars: Ken Lasaine
B3 track: Ken Lasaine.

Just A Regular Guy (Key: E 130 bpm 2:49)

Intro: E (4 bars)
Verse 1
I like my eggs scrambled with onions and cheese, with ½ pound of bacon, I’m easy to please.
Anchovies on my pizza with a hearty dark brew. It’s steak with baked potato says the carnivore crew.
E (4 bars)
Verse 2
I don’t own an island and don’t have a jet. I pay my own way and I carry no debt.
I’ve never been an astronaut or walked on the moon. But I dig good music and Italian food.
Chorus
I’m just a regular guy, never felt special. Not always right but always on the level.
I’m just a regular guy living my life like you.
Verse 3
Don’t need adulation or care to be well known. The chase for fame or fortune has never been a goal.
I like to hear the wild life when the moon is bright. Clear the mind and listen to the forest come alive.
Chorus
I’m just a regular guy, never felt special. Not always right but always on the level.
I’m just a regular guy living my life like you.
Lead Break: verse + chorus
Verse 4
I won’t tell you how to live your life. But, while we’re on the subject here’s a piece of advice.
Set a good example, never run never hide or compromise your self-respect, try to do what’s right.
Chorus
I’m just a regular guy, never felt special. Not always right but always on the level.
I’m just a regular guy living my life like you.
Outro to end:

Howdy m17....

I second guessed uploading this one because I sure didn't want it to come across as preachy in any way..
Not my intentions, ever.

Thank you very much for giving it a listen.
Glad to hear it caused some toe tapping. smile

You had me at Half a pound of bacon and sealed the deal with a hearty dark brew.

Cool song.... it's hopping right along.

I was hoping for a guitar solo from Ken, but the B3 was cool too and different.

Nice groove and fun lyrics, enjoyed!

Nice one! No wasted motion, just three minutes of fun. The B3 was an inspired choice. Great mix, and both the live and BiaB instruments fit right in. Like this a lot.

I'm just a regular guy whom loved this song!
A very infectious groove, a real toe tapper.
Great vocal and outstanding lyrics.
Fantastic groove.
IMHO this is your best to date.

PS - loved that B3

Hey Herb....
smile....guess I should write more songs about food.
My apologies if any drooling actually occurred.
Bacon is one of my favorites food groups.

Howdy Blue....
I initially envisioned our typical instrumental propensities.
But, after sending me his rhythms tracks he asked...."I'd like to try an organ track?"
I said: "Go for it"!
It's a twist for us but we both liked it so we rolled with it.

Hey Ron....
Funny you say that.
Out of (now 50) recorded originals I'd say less than a hand full are under 3:00.
When I decided on this very simple arrangement it seemed to go really quickly compared to what I'm used to. smile
Quite the milestone for this old bird.

Hey Mario....
I'm pleased you found it worthy of your time.
I dig that "infectious groove"....soon as I stumbled on it I knew.
It was a fun write and desperately didn't want to come off as preachy in any way.

Many thanks gents for giving it a whirl and all the kind words.
Much appreciated.
Have a good eve.

Good morning everyone.

Howdy David....
I'm glad you found it worthy of a listen and thanks for the kind words.
This is #3 for me in the last 2 months....hope I've climbed out of my creative deficit. smile

Howdy Greg....
Those are some very kinds words and they are much appreciated.
Getting favorable comments from our peers is very gratifying.
As long as the 'fresh message' is not perceived to be preachy I'm a happy camper.

Thanks again to you both for taking the time to listen.
Have a great day!

Great rocking song! Love the instrumentation and mix. Particularly like the B3 and piano.

Cool one, Wayne. James Jamerson bass lines always work well. Good mover, man. Ken is quite amazing on the B3 too. Lots of lyrics and yet you deliver them with such ease. Cool harmony too. 1-4-5 is regular, but this one has something special, guy.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Mornin' gents....

Howdy WaoBand....
I prefer the upbeat, 'rocking' sort of music with many different topics and the bulk of my drivel resides there.
I really didn't know if the topic would be interesting or not and was second guessing it before I was even finished.
This song writing stuff isn't easy. smile
Thanks for stopping by and commenting favorably.

Howdy Marty....
When he said he wanting to try a B3 track I expect it to be the lead break but when I heard it I was convinced it worked.
Yeah...another I/IV/Ver to (hopefully) get toes tapping.

Thank you both again for taking the time to give a listen and chiming in with the kind words.
Have a great weekend everyone.

We related to the lyric immediately and Janice especially liked this:
“I like to hear the wild life when the moon is bright. Clear the mind and listen to the forest come alive.”

The band and your vocals remind us of early Levon Helm with The Band. Very cool!
Ken always serves the song well too ... nice B3. And the chorus is great.
Great performances all around by you two and a fine group of BiaB session folks.

And you wrapped in up in a fine mix.

Enjoyed it!

Mornin' J&B....
I do focus on imagery with all my song writing drivel and very pleased you found it worthy of a listen and commenting.
Of course, being able to come with a topic that is relatable to any of our peers is a huge bonus.

I guess it's on to the next one, as soon as I stumble upon the right phrase or topic, that is. smile

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and the very kind words.
Have a great weekend everyone.
