"Power Pop Punk Rock"...apparently that's a real thing, but not a term I recall hearing before. But I like it! Glad we're far enough downrange of the pandemic where "infectious" is a compliment and not a threat. So THANK YOU, Floyd!

Ronnie, glad you like the song! The stereo image I used here is pretty simple: lead vocals, bass and drums are in the center (though the drum is stereo, most noticeably on the toms); the two harmony vocals are panned slightly left and slightly right; the stereo piano is panned slightly left,;and the two guitars are panned further out left and right. This is just how I (usually) do it and there are many different theories and preferences on this. Some of the early Beatles albums had all the vocals on one channel and all the instruments on the other. Sounded weird, but it was easy to tell when one of your speakers went out. Ha!

Ron, Thanx for the pleasant flashback.
Super vocal and lyrics.
Great mix.

Howdy Ron....

This is a good write.
Good upbeat energy, arrangement and well performed vox all around.
Lots of imagery which is what I like in a song.
Enjoyed the listen.

Well done!

Hi, Ron.

Cool song -the segmented phrasing reminded me a bit of Squeeze's "The Junction", which is a good thing. A bit more "jolting" that I'd want, but the kind of thing that would quickly grow on me. smile

I'm amazed how you and your team keep putting out solid pop.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

THANK YOU, Mario! I'm of an age where the term "flashback" can be as traumatic as, say, "infectious" is today. But I'm going to assume your flashback was a good one. Ha!

David, wow. "Up the Junction" is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. How do you write a pop song that good...without a chorus? Difford and Tilbrook just do it for me. Thematically, our beach tune is closer to "Pulling Mussels from a Shell", another banger of a Squeeze song. But all their early stuff is gold. THANKS for the listen and an excuse to go on about my love for Squeeze!

Ha, another super catchy pop song with positive nostalgia smile Perfectly upbeat for the heatwave days after long and cold winter & spring, "Let’s just keep on drivin’/Cos I’m havin’ too much trouble decidin’" that's the right attitude laugh

Enjoyable vocals, those backing harmonies are Beach Boys quality. Perfect band and the mix is flawless. The bridge with the nice chord changes and picturesque lyrics is a lovely breeze in this eternal sunshine of the rearview.

Wow, Janne. Your review is more poetical than these lyrics. Ha! But you got the essence of the tune perfectly. Yes, the long, cold winter is over here, and thought this was a good mood setter. Judging by the Helsinki forecast, warmer weather has arrived there too. Glad you enjoyed the song!

Isn’t it great that so many of us have memories of those kind of places?

Your lyric is delightful, the vocals joyous and the band and arrangement truly capture that nostalgic vibe.

Your mix techniques yielded a great result.

We’ll be dreaming of those beach trips tonight!😊

Scott, thanks for the listen. Yeah, remember when we had suntan OIL? The intent was no doubt to magnify the effects of the sun...

Glad this brought back memories of your beach and not the lake effect storms. Ha!

Loved this song Ron. The chugging guitars were very cool. Excellent groove. Super vocal and lyric. Production and mix was very well done.

Glad you liked it, Scott. Those guitars make for an interesting stereo field, and I like them a lot, too. On the next-to-last chorus I had both guitars playing shots, but they were so similar sounding that the mix lost the stereo effect. So I nudged the right guitar track 1/16 of a beat to the right to produce that subtle stereo slap guitar shot sound. Little things can make me so happy. Sigh.
