Hello dmrodes,
It sounds like you must be rendering your songs by recording them in real-time. Is this correct? If so, then the solution is to turn down your recording volume. Exactly how you do this depends on what operating system you have, the output driver your using, and your sound card. Typically though, you would click on Set Recording Properties, and turn the volume down for one of the following - 'what u hear', 'stero mix', 'wave out mix'.
You might want to open the VU meters and watch the input meter while the song is playing. Adjust the recording volume so that it doesn't ever hit the red.
