You're are right! There are two backup directories.

One for Audio (Audio Temporary Directory) and another for automatic file backups (RBBackup). The RBBACKUP directory automatically saves any change you make to RB files and saves then as *.BKS files. The size of this directory and the number of backups per song can be changed in the Preferences settings. Once the maximum number of files in that directory is hit, older files are supposed to be deleted and moved over to the Recycle Bin. Not sure this is happening correctly. Nonetheless, clearing out the RBBACK directory solved my problem and I no longer get the *TMP error.
