I do not intend to use "Playable RealTracks" (maybe someday... probably not).

Can the files in the Playable RealTracks folder (and Playable RealDrums folder) be deleted from the folder without any problems occurring when you run BIAB?

I've made backups to another drive. So I can recover them easily.

I'd like to reclaim the 7 GB (under Program Files on the system drive - C)
C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds\Programs\Playable RealTracks

Anyone know?

Thanks
fj

Yes, no problem you can remove the Playable RealDrums and Playable RealTracks folders from C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds\Programs. I would suggest that you leave the other 'HiQ instruments' folders there (bass, piano, strings), and they are fairly small.

Alternatively, you can install the PRT files onto a different drive, they don't necessarily need to be on the C: drive. You need to run at least one of the PRT installers pointed to the new location for it to work.

Hey Andrew,

I had a just the same issue, except that I do want to have the playable RTs and RDs avalible, but I want to know what the best way would be to relocate the files/data from my C to D drive such that BiaB would know where to look for said data. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall all of them? IIRC, the playable RTs and RDs were avalible for a couple years now, so I imagine there are separate installs necessary if that is the case. Furthermore, I deleted all the install files, and would that be an issue for trying to uninstall them if that was necessary?

Thanks in advance!

I got the impression from Andrew's response:

that running a playable RealTracks installer will allow you to locate the files on a different drive.
Andrew will know more, for sure.

Thanks Audio Track,

FWIW, I did that for the 2024 installation I just downloaded, and there is still approx. 9 gb in my C drive :-(

Uh Oh. Did you move them or copy them? Are the files on both drives, or just where you copied them to?

I'm not at my PC right now to check if they are on both, but I believe it's only the C drive (I haven't moved the folders manually yet because I don't know if it's safe to do it that way, given how file associations work)

Running one of the installers (like Andrew suggested) will associate the target folder for all of the Playable RealTrack files. Simply move the existing folders to the new location then run one of the installers to point it to the new folder.
