Keeping It SimpleA quick piece I threw together in about 45 minutes. As the name implies, it's a relatively simple song with a relatively simple chord pattern. I'll be by to answer comments and do some listens & reviews as I can. There are a couple of artifacts I couldn't get rid of. Hope it sounds okay anyway. Fun track, Alan. I usually sit, focused, when I listen to tracks, so I can put into words what comes to mind. Here, I just relaxed, sat back and smiled. It's a great, relaxing track, which I really enjoyed, and which sent me back happier into the world. Great job!!!

Ain't nothing wrong with simple---much easier for the layman to follow. The nylon guitar has a sweet sound. The switch from the piano works well. Nice mix: I get the right amount of bass coming through ---cool bass part.

Alan,
Well, simply, it's pretty outstanding. Crisp and engaging production, the acoustic lead shines. Mix is just perfect. And that piano just slays at the right moment. I like the bass a lot as well. Yeah, you're showing your talent if this is what you put together in 45 minutes. Impressive!

Hi Alan. As always, your music flows along effortlessly and each bar seamlessly links to the next. I really enjoyed this. The stye's name, "Cheery" says it all. Light and and entertaining, and it definitely brings a smile to the face (well, it did to mine) I glad you managed to find 45 minutes in amongst all that's happening right now. It's always a pleasure to listen to your work. Please say "Hi" to Di from me. Wishing you both all the very best! --Noel

Really nice flow to the jazz instrumental. A tasteful selection of instruments and cool solos.

I swapped out the style drummer and added the piano. Everything else is indigenous to the style. Glad you enjoyed it ... thanks for the nice comments! Alan

Deej HI Deej, I appreciate the listen and kind review. Most of my songs are put together in 3 hours or less. Some take a few days because I can't decide which tracks I like better. But, on average - and hour-and-a-half. Thanks for all those very nice comments. Take care, Alan

You're much too nice. I did a small amount of multi-track regenerating, but not much. The tracks pretty much fell in place with only a small amount of nudging. Thank you again. I appreciate you and your support. Best to you, Alan

Brad HI Brad, So glad you enjoyed it. I use a much simpler processing and mixing than most folks on these forums do. (Keeping it simple!) The closest thing I use to a DAW is Audacity. But the last two upgrades to Audacity almost make it a very basic DAW. I do all my mixing there, in conjunction with the BIAB chord input sheet. I spend more time selecting tracks than everything else combined. I can also "contour" the shape of the track there. It is typically a fast and easy process. I have two DAWs (Pronus and Cakewalk) but have no idea how to use either of them. The instruction manual and online "help" sections make the assumption the user already has a basic knowledge of music production. Nope - not this guy. I made a good living simply playing guitar, and someone else did the PA and mixing board setup and recording/production. I didn't even know what a DAW was until I joined this site. I record the few vocals and live guitar tracks I do from my guitar amp (Peavey Nashville 112) straight into the computer mic input. I sing through an AT 2035 mic. I have no mixing board or DAW. That's why I can do it in a very short time. But it seems to work. Best to you! Alan
