Open Display Settings and uncheck the new line for every section box will eliminate that nasty look of splitting the chart into new lines.

In order to split a 4 bar measure between 1,3 and 3,4 - use bar settings to split bars into 2 bar measures and then bar settings to return the chord sheet back into 4 bar measures.
