Hey there folks,

I have an issue I've encountered a number of times, and would really appreciate if someone here could help me with it.

Basically, sometimes I will have a window or dialogue box open (the RD picker in this instance), and I will minimize it because I have to attend to something else. Then, when I press back on the BiaB icon in my tray, it opens up the main interface.
The thing is, when I hover my cursor over said icon, the thumbnail displays the dialogue box, not the display. I can also see a ribbon of minimized window with what should where I can expand/open up the dialogue box so I can close it. Finally, once I pull up BiaB, I cannot switch to any other items on my PC w/o minimizing everything to desktop.

TIA for your assistance!

DB09

Sometimes ALT+TAB can access hidden things. Also, if pressing TAB once while holding ALT downs shows it, you may be able to click on it with a mouse.

Andrew asks a great question. Sometimes if I don’t turn on my second monitor, a dialog box waiting for an answer will never be seen.

Ok. So this is a question about losing focus on the window that was minimized, yes? Trying to bring back that window instead brings back the main window of BIAB? And if that's correct, does anything stop you from going back to the window you wanted?

Perhaps you could write down the exact steps for an example we can try to duplicate.

I has the RD picker open, and I minimized everything to desktop.

DeaconBlues09,
If you have 2024... Have you tried working with MTP instead of RD pickers? I had issues you are describing with prior pickers and sometimes was forced to shut program down...

Since December I was only using MTP Library. It doesnt have these issues for me.

But his signature says he does not have BIAB 2024. That makes this hard to test.

Thanks Rustyspoon,

I do have 2024. I've updated every year since I first got the program in 2017, but I have barely had time to even boot it up, let alone explore the latest features, in the last couple years due to personal and professional constraints on time.

I'm looking to get back into it now, and catch up on everything. I watched some of the update videos, and the MTP actually looks like the coolest and most groundbreaking features in years. The thing is, I am looking for a very particular drumbeat right now to fit a track I am working on from the ground up in Reaper, rather than BiaB or RB (it is all MIDI at this point, and I want to supplement with RDs/RTs, rather than the other way around). I like the "zoomed out" view of the RD picker with all the beats where I can preview all the ^variations from the right sidebar and make use notes, because I already have the sound in my head, and am looking for the quickest way to find a match, and only afterward use the MTP to get the exact patterns and voicings to match from the RTs and RDs I settle on. I probably should have checked this can be done as quickly and efficiently from the MTP as it is from the picker boxes. And yeah, I should probably update my signature to reflect that I have 2024, haha

Edit: I just tried it from the MTP, and I love it! I was initially worried it would be more streamlined such that I would not be able to preview variations from there, but that feature is in that dialogue box, and it also has the ability to select stems and preview from there. Incredible! I really need to dive back into BiaB headfirst--it seems like I have many wonderful features to catch up on :-)

As for my initial problem with the stuck dialogue box; I decided to just kill the program from Task Manager, and, on relaunch, could not duplicate the issue in the RD picker, so I can't really determine whether it would be any different if I was working from the MTP. Bisacally, it occurs at the oddest times when I work on multiple things at once/switching between windows and dragging them between 2 displays, and I only encounter the issue when I try to return to BiaB such that I never know what specific action was responsible for the malfunction.

Hi Matt,

I update each year to the latest version, but somehow never thought to update my signature.
I have done so now.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Had an eerily similar issue on my dual screen setup. User Musocity created a custom script that worked perfectly...but the hidden window behavior hasn't reappeared for me recently. The thread is here. Know how frustrating these can be. Good luck!!

Oh, I'm confident you are the only one in the history of the BIAB forums to do that (he said guiltily).
