A Sense O' Mia on Soundcloud
A Sense O' Mia on YouTube

A song about a day in the life of a highway patrol officer.
Key=A , Tempo 120, Length (m:s)=3:20
Style is _BUMPKIN.STY (Bumpkin Rock n' Roll Country)

RealTracks in style: 4322:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm RockNRollCountryShuffle Sw 120
RealTracks in style: 421:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues Sw 120
RealTracks in song: ~1054:Sax, Alto, Soloist SmoothJazzCool Sw16 075
RealTracks in song: 4203:Autoharp, Rhythm OldTimeWaltz Sw 120
RealDrums in style:NashvilleShuffle^01-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride
I added bass, tambo and vocals

A Sense O' Mia

I got a call just the other day sayin' someone seemed lost on the coast highway.
I turned the siren on and the message carried on sayin,'
"They're drivin' down the wrong way."
By the time I reached the scene there was little I could do
but stop her in the middle of her lane.
She pulled her window down and turned down the sound. She looked to be insane.

A swirling smoke then spilled from her car. She said, "I'm glad ta see ya."
It was her who called it in. So that's when I got my first sense o' Mia.

She slurred to say she was on her way to the grocery store that sits down by the bay,
Her good friend Marijane would be awfully glad she came but traffic was in her way.
So she dialed 911 to report this troubling scene that was meesin' with her brain.
I calmly tried to say, "You are heading the wrong way.
You need the southbound lane."

Her cellphone rang. It was Marijane who said to bring tequilla.
I asked her to hang up. Then she rattled off some more nonsense o' Mia.

I knew I had enough but she just wouldn't stop.
I pointed to my badge and showed her my handcuffs just to prove I was a cop.

She said she cannot believe her luck. Told me I could escort her in my flashy truck.
I told her where we're bound we need to turn around, That's when I saw the buck.
So I hopped in the cruiser and turned the siren on, but all I got from that was scat.
He lowered a mighty rack, pushed some dirt behind his back,
then poked my tires flat.

A sense o' Mia hung in the air. She waved goodbye, said, "See ya."
A smile on her face, a gleam in her eye, she reeked of sinsamllia.

Marty,

EXCELLENT! Love this song. One of your best vocals and an awesome mix.

Love the arrangement and story. Your bass sounds great and I really like those siren sound effects. Very cool!

A great song all around!

Marty, this is a hoot! Your well of creativity is as deep as the Marianas Trench. Very cool style, rocking bass, rollicking vocals and just a huge dose of fun. Mixed just right, too. Excellent!

I love the way you always come up with a creative new angle in song lyrics. This song is particularly creative and the mix and instrumentation are ideal for it - and the video is a corker, too..

Oh yeah, Marty what a song. Soooo creative. My dad is retired California Highway Patrol, and you know I'll be sending him a copy of this one. He's gonna love it, just like I did. Wonderful stuff, I wish I would have written it! Great job! I laughed all the way through it.

Marty what an extremely clever song.
A girl on "funny cigarettes" driving the wrong way, a cop, and a tire flattening deer, who could ask for more?
Not to mention a girl friend call Marijane!
All put together in an outstanding groove, great vocal and backing tracks.
Loved it.

Thank you Officer Simmons. Remember that song you helped me with in January? That one is next.

This is really funny Marty.

Of course I know that there's absolutely no way, and I mean no way in heaven, and no way on God's green earth, not even remotely close, that you wrote this song with the assistance of rolling your own and toking a big fat one out in your backyard before you went back into your studio.

I'm just going to say there's absolutely no chance this would ever happen or that you've never done anything like this in the past.

Hard stop.

No.

The Marty I know would never do that, not now, not yesterday and not tomorrow.

Not in that Beaver cap.

No way.

Hi Marty,

I doubt there's no single life incident about which you cannot write a song. Your creative muse is working overtime. You need to keep nourishing her!

A really cool song!

Sinse you bring it up - the story is dope.
That the cop didn't reef'er out of her car & bong her into the paddy wagon is the question that Marie wanna know about.
Another good times, rolling & rollicking blues based gem Marty.
That bass, that voice, that's always an ace foundation.

Cheers

Thanks, Chay. Ha, those videos... did you notice the officer in her car? Very comical. Now, your vidz are flawless.

Thank you, Laurent. Sometimes those CoPilot creations get amusingly wonky, like the cop sitting in her car.

“A swirling smoke then spilled from her car. She said, "I'm glad ta see ya."
It was her who called it in. So that's when I got my first sense o' Mia.”

We can see her smiling so clearly from the above and we think you should write short stories. 😊

This is another fun song, Marty, and your vocal delivers the wry humor well.

Great band along with your fine performances and mix.

And, per always, cool supporting imagery in the vid.

Fun!

Red-eyed Marty, you sure a getting clever in your lyrics. I dig that piano and the bass line. Good vocal performance. I have to admit, I had to look up "sinsamllia" to see exactly what it was, event though I could guess from the context.
