This may or may not be my final experiment with rhythm guitars creating a 'wall of sound' rhythm section, but I doubt I'll ever use 8 again!

The images in the video depict the sequence of the instruments as they appear in the instrumental.

Enya Warm Pad & Strings
Drums: Jovian Divine Alt Rock Soloing ~ Shannon Forrest
Bass: Ditto ~ Dow Tomlin
1st Rhythm Guitar: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Band ~ Darin Favorite
1st & 3rd Guitar Solos: Jovian Divine Alt Rock Soloing ~ Brent Mason
2nd & 3rd Rhythm Guitars: Ditto ~ Mike Durham
4th Rhythm Guitar: Nashville Radio Power Bal Solo ~ Danny Rader
5th Rhythm Guitar: Centaur Gtr Solo Hard Rock Ba ~ Murray Atkinson
6th Rhythm Guitar: Bricks Indie Rock w Guitar Solo ~ Dave Cleveland
Organ: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Band ~ Gene Rabbai
2nd Guitar Solo: Bricks Indie Rock w Guitar Solo ~ Mike Durham
7th Rhythm Guitar: Nashville Radio Power Bal Solo ~ Danny Rader
8th Rhythm Guitar: Centaur Gtr Solo Hard Rock Ba ~ Darin Favorite

The final Jovian Divine Alt Rock Soloing Guitar Solo is a hybrid of 5 samples cut into 7 parts.

Chay, really nice job creating a pulsing vibe with your wall of guitars (and other instruments) sound. Like where you've placed the guitar in the mix, and the backing track evolves texturally but doesn't lose clarity or continuity. So...super job! Cool R&R band graphic/video as well.

Chay,

Wow! That's a great sound - so many guitars! Love the mix on this. Big and full.

Very nicely done!

Chay,

Ah - a guitar-mixing guru! It all fits and sounds great. I'm guessing it took more than a few minutes to mix all those tracks!

Nice work! It's a sweet listen!!!

Take care,

Alan

That's a cool stack of sounds - well done.
The lack of a common melody carried & developed by each soloist meant each step was another step but with nothing to look back to...sort of.

Cool title!

That number of tracks makes my head spin ... way above my mix pay grade.
You did a great job of keeping it from becoming too dense and full of mud.
Everything has its niche.

Enjoyed it!

Thanks for the response, Alan. I'd say on average it takes me about 4 days to do the mixing as I try so many variations - a new instrumental that I'm working on currently has 2 variations, each of which has 2 sub-variations, so 4 different mixes to choose from, but I'm getting sick of listening to them! laugh

Thanks for listening and responding, Ray. Sometimes I regret that I can't create a melody using BiaB, but the reason I used so many cut and pasted samples on the final solo is that I wanted that phrase which first appears 10 seconds in and lasts about 5 seconds to repeat in order to give some continuity.

J&B, thanks for the great response. The 7th & 8th rhythm guitars could have been omitted, but when I muted them I found I missed them. But as I wrote at the top, I don't think I'll be doing 8 again! laugh

Thanks for the response, David. It was one of the most enjoyable instrumentals to put together, if hard work, but my next posts will have a lot less guitars in them!

Chay, I have no idea how you can mix so many guitar tracks without having it turn to mud - Excellent job on that!
Super groove.
I liked this a lot.

PS - you can never have to many guitars!

Whoa, the WaoBand is raining guitars. Cool sounds, Chay. Eight guitars and ONE bass. You know, the wall of sound that appears on paper above gives the impression that there will be choas in the mix, but you've done a terrific job keeping it real. You know I enjoy your creativ videos, too.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks for the listen and response , Mario. I'm currently working on a rhythm section in which I've found I can have 3 piano styles working together without them clashing, which I previously thought wouldn't be possible, though I'll likely only end up only using 1 as the just found 3rd addition on its own creates a smoother flow.

Thanks, Marty! I chose the title as it mixes reigning as in ruling, raining, and the other reigning as in reigning-in a horse. The 8 rhythm horses obeyed their reigns! 
