This tune may sound a bit familar to some. The backing was used a couple months ago here in the forum to demo attempts at writtining a full 6/8 arrangement and utilizing 4/4 Real Tracks based on triplets from BIAB to fit the 6/8 groove.

Once the arrangement was completed I turned to writting the lyrics and singing the vocals. Best to write about what you know, so the topic/title is near and dear to me at this time. My wife for 49 years was diagnosed with advanced stage mixed dementia (vascular and altzheimers) ~ 10 months ago. I have been her full time caregiver since then. Each day we say goodbye to each other a little bit more.

The Long Goodbye

Intro (10 Bars)

Verse 1: 16 Bar
In the quiet of the morning, you used to know my name,
Now the silence lingers, nothing feels the same.
We walk the paths together, but you're lost in distant lands,
I'm holding on to memories as their slipping through my hands.

PreChorus 8 Bars Instrumental | F add9 | C/E | Dm | Dm/G |

Chorus: 16 Bars
It's a long goodbye, a slow fading light,
Every day I see you slipping away further from my sight.
In the shadow of the past, where our momeries used to lie ,
I'm holding on to your love in this long goodbye.

Verse 2: 16 Bar
Photographs and laughter, echoes of a time,
When you could tell our story, every single line.
Now your eyes simply wander, searching through the haze,
Trying to find the pieces of our long past days.

Bridge: 8 Bars Instrumental

Chorus: 16 Bars
It's a long goodbye, a slow fading light,
Every day I see you slipping away further from my sight.
In the shadow of the past, where our memories used to lie,
I'm holding on to your love in this long goodbye.

Verse 3 Ending : 16 Bars
And though you may not know I'll always hold you near,
Through every stolen moment, through every hidden tear.
In this tangled twilight, love will be our guide,
I'll always be right here with you, in this long good bye.
