SUMMER SHOWER

https://www.reverbnation.com/kaynemusic/song/34573789-summer-shower

I wrote this on a nylon classical guitar as a cool little open mic piece. The lyrics just happened all at once in about 10 minutes. I tried for a long time to get BIAB to arrange it, and it wasn't until they added the Micro Chords feature that I was able to get it to work.

I brought the core arrangement into Cubase, and played the guitar parts, bass, keys, strings added drum loops, and SynthV vocal arrangements. Mixed using various Wav plug-ins.

*******************

I stood out in summer shower
felt the cool clear rain
I just stood / there for hours
to wash away my pain

Then I saw a rainbow glisten
In the summer sky
If you take the time to listen
you can hear me cry
you can hear me cry OH

When you see the stars burn brightly
on the Milky Way
Lie down in the grass and count them
As I passed away

Can you feel a summer breeze
blowing through your mind
Smell the earth and the trees
be one with the grand design
be one with the grand design OH

I flew out into the sunset
into the southern clouds
I lost all inhabitation
and all self-doubt
Looking on the earth below me
a tiny shining sphere
All the pain and earthly problems
I felt them disappear
And I disappeared OH

When you stand in a summer shower
and feel the cool clear rain
Reach out and touch the power
you’ll never feel the same

Elliott,

Great song. I love the 70s sound this one has. Very singer-songwriter. Great vocals with Synth V and an excellent mix.

Elliott...I love this ...it reminds me of Seals and Crofts (a female version)...man you nailed every aspect of this...I just mowed my lawn and that water sounds so refreshing...anyway...first off the song is SO good!...then the arrangement is stellar (the guitar work is amazing)...the clarity of the entire production is really nice and the vocals are crazy good (you have mastered Synth V)...is that Solaria? this is my new favorite from you and you've had some great ones before!

Elliott, you are a master of many instruments
Super guitar chop
Outstanding vocal, harmonies, and backing vocals
Outstanding mix
This is your best to date IMHO

Cool, Elliott. Really well done, and I hear what you mean about the micro chords-- couldn't be done without it. I really like the melody. I like your bass ines too. Really make the song so much better. You have become a master of those synth voices. The lead here may be a bit too out front --well, it's the first time I noticed sibilance. Man, this is so well prodiced, too. Good mix.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Love this song and arrangement. Really excellent lyrics - I totally relate - and the SynthV vocals work perfectly for it.

Nice work.

That guitar certainly sounds good with nice high end. The vocal could probably use a bit of sibilence control. It sounds a bit bright on these speakers. I'll listen later on something else.

Using the microchords is really helpful. However, I am impatient and often don't have the patience to go through a song measure by measure tweeking things. Maybe I need to develop patience and slow down.

I knew you played guitar, but recording and mixing is an art in itself, and you did it really well.
The song sounds a bit old-fashioned, but in a good way, with good vocals and a good arrangement.
Enjoyed the listen a lot!

Great!

We felt like we were at a James Taylor concert.
One where he was letting the backup singers take over the vocals for a song.

Smooth performances and a clean, open production.
Excellent tracks all around — BiaB and your fine versatile performances.

Enjoyed it!
