Has anyone purchased this electronic version of the Real Book for Jazz standards? It is supposed to include the charts, actual recordings of the songs, and BIAB song files. Any actual feedback on this package from people that have bought it? Are the BIAB song files any good? How about the recordings? http://www.realbooksoftware.com/Thanks, MB

Hi Mark, it's not that this software package isn't useful it's just that it's a compilation of stuff that is freely available all over the internet. Some people are not comfortable in doing a lot if web searches and downloading stuff. Just the fact that you're here on this forum probably means you don't have that problem.

Yes I purchased and would not recommend it. If you load it up and you happen to alter something on your computer (I'm still trying to figure out what that alteration was) it just says you have
altered your "settings" and therefore I will not work etc etc. After reloading it several times I just copied some of the charts. An expensive fake book. And lets face it much of the stuff I couldn't really use anyway.

I guess what I really want are live performance quality backing tracks that don't cost a fortune. I also want to win the lottery but that's probably not going to happen either.

Here is one option for commercial cover tune backing tracks. You can even find multitrack mp3 versions you can move into you DAW for a couple bucks:
