Sometimes I Wonder

I recorded this back in November of 2021, but just now got around to posting it. After having finished it, I was wondering what to name it - then - what the heck! How about "Sometimes I Wonder"?

This is a feisty, rhythm-driven acoustic alternative pop song - yeah, all of that! I left the lead acoustic slightly buried in the mix as I think the drums and bass line carry it.

I mixed it in Audacity and mastered it on Soundcloud.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

I think that lead acoustic sits just right in the mix. Grooving rhythm track and the acoustic soloist fits the sound of the band. I couldn't discern the fiddle in the chorus, but my ears aren't good for that anyway. Good tune!

Alan,

That's a great track. The fingerpicking guitar is so clear & present. You always bring out the best in these guitar RTs. Excellent mix as well.

Loved it!

Sometimes I Wonder...how you come up with all of these consistently excellent instrumental tracks. But I shouldn't by now, RIGHT?? This is just really well done. Very interesting harmonic movement and a perfectly balanced mix. The band is great, and that lead guitar is very cool. Reminds me of an Acoustic Alchemy track. I could listen to them (and this) for hours. Have missed you for a few weeks, glad you could drop this by for us!

Well done Al.

The solo guitar does not sound even slightly buried in the mix to us.
Rather ... just right.

The entire groove is, to use a cliche, infectious and an instant toe tapper.
Your word "feisty" is a good one. smile

Another fine all BiaB production indeed.

Most enjoyable!

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the listen - glad you enjoyed it! That acoustic lead just fell into place - it took very little "massaging". Thanks for mentioning it.

The fiddle chops are hardly audible in the mix. But their absence can be noted when muted.

Best to you,

Alan

Hi Ron,

Although this wasn't a particularly challenging project, the bulk of my time was spent blending the other instruments with the bass and drums. I wanted them to carry the load and let the other tracks lend a supporting effort. I had to go over and listen to Acoustic Alchemy - thanks for the great reference!.

I get here as often as I can - sometimes it takes a bit of time between appearances.

Best to you,

Alan

Hey Folks,

Hope all is well in Northern Georgia. Things are as good as possible here in Northern Alabama, the situation considered.

Thank you for those kind comments. When I heard that bass track, I wasn't able to ignore it, and this is what happened.

Wishing you all the very best,

Alan

Hi Dan,

It's always a treat to hear from you. This one just kind of fell into place. It took very little follow-up on my part. The bass line sold me on this style and, well, this is where I took it. Glad it works for you!

Wishing you all the best,

Alan

That's nice stuff. Interesting choice of chords and the acoustic guitar sits well in the mix. I like how the guitar playing followed the chords without a bunch of wrong notes. Good job.

Sparky melody and song .

Hi, Alan. November 2021!?! Ha, maybe you should've named it Sometimes I Wander. Man, this is a fine gem to be sitting on so long. Man, that guitar is outstanding. Love the composition and the way you mix it. Superb sounds.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Alan,

Guitar doesn't sound buried to me, it's sitting right where it should. Man, that cat can play!

Good instrumental, you always have the knack of finding the perfect selection of Realtracks that compliment each other.

Enjoyed!

Hi Herb,

Thank you very much. I know what you mean by some "interesting" instances of the lead instrument taking a route from one to another. I used the multirif function only twice on this one - fewer times than typically necessary. When I'm putting these instrumentals together, I have my guitar in hand and the chord sequences just come to me - I don't have to give them a lot of thought, most of the time. I have the guitar handy just in case I need a transitional chord from one part to another that doesn't come to me quickly.

I appreciate the listen and nice words.

Alan

HI Marty!

HA! (your "wander" comment). I have one I'm working on from time to time that I started in 1978. Let's see - I'm closing in on 78 years old - I might want to give that one a higher priority if I expect to finish it!

Thank you very much for such kind and supportive comments. I was happy with the lead guitar - it pretty much did its own thing. I used the multirif function only twice. As far as the composition, chords come to me pretty easily, most of the time.

I always look forward to your comments. Thanks a bunch!

Alan
