Need to move it to save some space on my internal drive. (And the Soloists folder too.) I have plenty of external drives online. Just dont know if simple alias will work.
If not, how to accomplish it would be appreciated.

dunno if this helps...but i dont bother installing to the internal drive these days. i just do a minimal pg install to internal....thus leaving lots of space on the internal.
heres some added info also.
1..when i receive the pg drive... i clone it to an ultra fast 50 bucks m.2 ssd in an enclosure. m.2 is dirt cheap these days. then...
2. i store away the drive pg sent and hang the ultra fast m.2 off of fast usb..
my stats doing the above procedure is bb or rb boot off m.2 external in only a few secs. and generations in bb ...when i have new groovy bb tracks view are done in a blink of an eye.
is your internal drive ssd ? or an old drive ?
hth...and happiness.

whats your pc model ? is it fast ? or old ? is your internal drive ssd ? or an old drive ? Since this is the Macintosh board, we’ll assume he’s on a Mac. Just dont know if simple alias will work No. That’s not how it works. You can do a minimum install of the BIAB app onto your System Drive in the Applications folder. From inside BIAB you can tell it where to find the other necessary files–those can be installed/copied onto on an external. PGM has instructions on all of this. You aren’t going to be cloning anything. Since you don’t have the Audiophile version, the drive from PG Music is optional. If you have it, you can leave everything on it—won’t run any slower than installed anywhere else. You still do the minimum install for the required Library and support files but you can run BIAB from the external. For Audiophile owners, the Real Tracks and Drums take the better part of 2TB drive space. Those files can be left on the 4TB drive that we receive or you can copy them over to an external (mine are on an 8TB TB4 blade). Again, you tell BIAB where to find them from within the app.

Thank you Mike and JustAnOld.
Yeah i am on audiophile version. Historically, since audiphile version came out years ago, i would just do the second install option of putting BinB app etc onto the internal macs nVme or SSD drive, and keeping drums and real tracks on the PG hard drive. But that install still puts the Artist Performance and Soloists onto internal drive too, during the install. So I wanted to get rid of those from the bloat on system drive.
(all our my externals are now either SSDs or nVMe off PCI slots of Mac Pro.)
Given what you mention about aliases not working, triggering a long ago memory of using symlinks (pre my having stroke and brain fog). So i suspect that is way i would need to go?
And the other suggestion of just backing up to a regular spinner and running it all off the PG hard drive aint a bad idea either.
thank you both

But that install still puts the Artist Performance and Soloists onto internal drive too, during the install. So I wanted to get rid of those from the bloat on system drive. Please be VERY careful deleting files, as you can cause BB to stop working by doing so! And especially do NOT delete files from any external hard drive shipped from PG Music! That said, you can simply delete the entire Artist Performance Sets, Artist Video Performance Sets, Instrumental Studies, Songs and Lessons, Synth Kit Documentation, Synth Kits, and Tutorials folders without affecting BIAB apart from opening Songs With Vocals from the Stylepicker - those songs can be opened from the external if desired. This is a pretty minimal change and will save a couple gigs of space. If you're REALLY looking to save space, you can delete the various Demos folders such as Drums - Demos, Melodist Demos, MIDI SuperTracks - Demos, RealTracks - Demos, Soloist Demos, and Style Demos. This can save up to 6.5gb of space, assuming an UltraPAK or Audiophile with all add-ons. As well, if you've installed the compressed RealTracks to your internal storage, inside the RealTracks folder is a Data folder - this contains audio demos of the RealTracks. This folder can be up to 30gb. Deleting any of the demo files will only affect loading demo songs and hearing pre-made demos of styles - auditioning a style will still work if you have the Stylepicker set up to use your chordsheet (enabled by default in 2024).
