A Joyous Journey

This one just fell into place - all I added to the original style tracks was a faint tambourine on the choruses but not on the verses. I did, however, change out the "Nashville Even 8" drum kit for the brushes.

Hope you might like it a bit.

One question: Does the lead nylon acoustic need to come a little more forward in the mix? I kinda like it as is - I wanted it to be "nestled" by the rest of the band, rather than stand out too much. I also wanted to keep the entire production "gentle" and relaxing. For an upper mid-tempo song, that required a fair amount of massaging. I'd like to hear your opinion about anything that strikes you as you listen.

List of BIAB's Master Musicians:

File:A Joyus Journey.SGU

Style is _NYGEORG.STY (Country George w/ Nylon Guitar)

RealTracks in style: 379:Bass, Electric, Country DoubleTime Ev 088

RealTracks in style: 378:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming DoubleTime Ev 088
RealTracks in style: ~2200:Guitar, Nylon, Background CountryBrent Ev 085
RealDrums in Song: Tambourine2and4Dark
RealDrums in Song:BrushesFolk16ths: a: Brushes b: Brushes Tap

I'll be over tomorrow to do some more listening and commenting.

Alan,

This piece is absolutely beautiful...

Meditative and so easy to listen to. I love the nylon guitar and the mix is perfect. It sounds great in headphones or speakers.

Wow, Alan. This is really so nice, and sounds GREAT as your songs always do. Think you've got the nylon guitar just right in the mix, and the EQ and ambience are nice as well. But the part that is especially nice is the narrative quality of the solo, which can sometimes be lacking on an extended BiaB instrumental. I'm going to guess that you had a hand in that, and it wasn't just the luck of BiaB generation. At any rate, really enjoyed this a lot, and marvel once again at your mad BiaB skills. smile

Typing before reading other comments because I'd say bring the nylon up a bit, but, as you say, it does sit comfortably in this relaxing mix. And here's what I thought as I listened: "Wow, this Alan guy is so darn good at this creative stuff and all it takes to present it in such a fine pro production." Okay, well, if I put my thoughts in word form, that's what it would be. I'm sticking with that.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hello Al.
Nice song
I always have my problems with nylon guitars with BiaB.
Maybe they don't like my melodies ;-)))
But here it works very well

Alan...as usual a very pleasant number to listen to...I think the nylon is as you say resting well where you placed it...it's cutting through quite nicely...this is a lovely melody and flows very well with the rest of the band...well done!

A really nice and relaxing song.
I think the acoustic sits just right in the mix, it clearly dominates (as it should) without being too loud or intrusive.
Well done, Alan!

Hi Marty,

You'll have to introduce me to that "Alan Guy" you referenced!

Thank you sincerely for the wonderful comments. As I mentioned in introductory notes, this one just fell into place. I spent less than three hours on it.

I always appreciate your comments and suggestions. They always help.

Wishing you & yours the very best.

Hey Alan,
Very well done indeed. Very soothing and well mixed.
The hint of the tamborine and your choice to use brushes was spot on.
An enjoyable listen for sure.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Sounds good to me Al. Maybe the bass is a bit too bouncy and lacks low end but that's just my preference.
