Hi folks,
I'm a newbie here. and a recent convert to biab.
while I am an acoustic guitarist, I decided to create this whole production in biab.
I mixed the song in biab and exported it as a stereo wave into my Zoom R8 recorder
where I laid down the vocals. Finally, I mastered the track through Moises AI website.
I hope you enjoy the song and feel free to comment or advise me. smile
Regards
Brian.

Brian, welcome (again), sounds like you're having a lot of fun! Your vocals and BGVs are very cool. Like the driving rhythm of your tune and your use of BiaB backing.

That's an interesting workflow. I'm not aware of anyone else using a Zoom (or similar) in that way. FWIW, I think your results are really impressive. You'd probably have a lot more control of your arrangement if you were using a computer based DAW to do your band mix and recording, but it sounds like the Zoom is getting it done for you.

Hope to hear more!

A BIG welcome to the forum, Brian. This is excellent --especially from someone who just started with BiaB. Very engaging song, and what an extraordinary vocal. I like your use of the sax, too. Great range on the vocal. A really good arrangement.

I stayed on Reverbnation to check out a few more --really fine stuff, sir. Really looking forward to your progress. Oustanding harmony.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Reading the credits I wasn't expecting anything near this good. Nicely done

Song has a really cool bluesy groove to it.

Hi Brian,

Excellent song and arrangement - I particularly liked the horns and BV's.

My only suggestion is with your excellent vocals - good gutsy performance. However I think they would be much better mixed in a DAW with compression. They fade in and out where I think they could be fuller and more upfront.

Definitely worth another mix.

Best Regards
Nigel

Hi Nigel Spiers

Thanks for listening and for your advice. I agree with your assessment of my vocal recording.
Recently I purchased Reaper and am just starting to dip my toes into using a DAW. Old dog, new tricks and all that.
I have a lot to learn, especially about compression.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regards
Brian.

Thanks DC Ron.

I'm trying to get my head around Reaper, I started out with a reel to reel machine so it's not surprising that I love real sliders and buttons. It's a tactile thing for me. Having said that, it is time for my brain to upgrade and catch up with the times.
Let's see how I go.

Regards

Brian

I have a Zoom R16. It's very good, very easy to use whilst I no longer use it to record & mix I do use it as a control surface for Reaper.\Good mix, really good vocals but they seem a bit "hot" in spots...mic technique, Zoom Headroom or mastering I can't tell.
BIAB is an ace writing tool.
Good work.

Cheers

Hi rayc.

It's great to see a fellow Aussie songwriter here.
I agree with you that I need to refine my vocal recording techniques.
I've never used compression, I think it is time to learn how.
Thanks for listening and commenting mate.

Regards

Brian
