I'd try the "Return to factory settings". This is found under the Options menu. I'd first try the "MOST" option and if that didn't work, I'd try the "ALL" option. The difference between the two is that MOST will keep your present audio and midi set up in place while the ALL option will reset the audio and midi set up.
Under the Options menu, there is also a selection to save your current setup. I would do this prior to resetting.
This is what will most likely fix the problem. Changing sound card settings will not likely help at all.
Whelp, this did not work for me. Perhaps I need to reboot system. The instructions didn't say that. Also ,I shouldn't have to run in 16 bit.
Setting the sound card to 16 bit audio is not usually necessary - 44,100hz 24-bit usually works just as well - but in rare cases 16-bit works where 24-bit doesn't. We believe it's down to specific audio cards or drivers.
The match between Playback and Recording properties is the key, I think.
Correct, as is setting to 44,100hz. Again, in most cases higher sample rates
do work, but some sound cards don't play nicely.
