The Twenty-third Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd and so
I have all that I’ll ever need.
Beside the still waters
and into green pastures
He safely leads...
In righteous paths that I stroll
He's gently restoring my soul.
The Lord is my Shepherd
and so I have all that I need.

If, through the vale of the shadow of death,
Should I ever go –
When danger hounds me,
when darkness surrounds me,
I surely know
Whatever evil appears
I can face it – free from all fear.
The Lord is my shelter;
the Lord is my shield – this I know.

A table’s prepared by the Lord
in the presence of all my foes.
My head’s anointed with oil
and my cup simply overflows.
His mercies are new every day,
His goodness fades not away
And I’ll dwell in the house
of the Lord forevermore.
And I’ll dwell in the house
of the Lord forevermore.

Beautiful treatment of the Psalm. Excellent vocal work. The recording has a nice standard feel from the 60s. Well done!

Brian, this is absolutely fantastic
Outstanding vocal, it reminded me a little like Bobby Goldboro and that's a good thing
Super mix
Your best to date IMHO

Thanks, Mario.

re: "Outstanding vocal.."

Considering I was battling the worst throat infection for years, I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did. wink

Thanks, E.S.

Yes, I've spent so long in that 60s -70s groove it's become my comfort zone. And, since more than 90% of my concerts these days are in aged-care facilities, it's more or less what they expect of me. smile

Brian,

It's really great to hear another one from you. What a great rendition - special!

Last week I told my wife there's a guy I used to listen to often over on the BIAB forum. Haven't heard from him in a while. He's a great singer and composer.
That was a real to listen to. Hope you are back to good health.
Lo and behold - here you are!
Best to you,

Alan

Thanks Alan,

Yes, I was quite prolific during the covid lock-downs but since then I've been concentrating on my family history (22,000 people in my tree to date).
However, in the last two months I've churned out 1/2 dozen songs as well as providing music for three songs recently written by my daughter. We may get to share those with the forum down the track (no pun intended). smile

Another nice one. Very cool concept, and super execution. Like how subtle you are with the guitar and oboe accents. I'll bet your local audiences love this, 'cause I do. smile

Brian...you have taken the most well known of the Psalms and modernized it with a lovely melody...your phrasing is so well done...love the modulation...it lifts the song just at the right time...this is a marvelous treatment of this eternal text...PTL!

Hi, Brian.

Nice singing! As Scott mentioned, it's got a pleasant '60's feel to it. Good arrangement, and the oboe works really well.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
