PG Music Documentation writer, please add a list of recognized chords to the Chapter 15, Reference Section, of the Band-in-a-Box User Manual. Presently the list only exists on +++ THIS +++ webpage.

Hi Jim.

In my BIAB 2024 (Windows) pdf manual, there's a chord list on page 344. Is this the type of thing that you were meaning?

I would really like to have a few things cleared up about this someday. First, ‘recognized’ doesn’t always mean ‘supported’. For example, there are several chords you can type that all are internally converted to a 2 chord. Second, the chord as exported in Music XML isn’t always what you typed. Third, if Natural Arrangement is On, what you hear may not be what you wrote anyway. And that’s all I can think of at this moment but I think there are other questions.

Is that a hijack, to want the printed list of ‘recognized’ chords to be completely accurate?

Hello Noel,

That does appear to be the same list as the webpage I linked to. Thank you for pointing that out to me. The same chord list is available starting on page 267 of the 2024 Band-in-a-Box for Mac Users Manual. Noel's response is the answer to my wishlist request.

Hello Matt,

The questions you ask certainly are good discussion subjects. For myself I don't know enough about chord theory to even venture a reply to your questions.

In my opinion this thread may not be the best place within the forum to have the discussions as there may not be as many views to this thread or responses as there would be if your questions were posted in the main BiaB forum section. However, as this thread proves, I can be wrong smile so let's see what happens. If there is little or no discussion over a few days, I'll mark the thread as resolved. While there is discussion I'll not touch the resolved button, how's that?

Hi Jim. I think you can mark this as Resolved since your question was answered by Noel.

I agree my questions deserve further discussion elsewhere, and over the years I’ve attempted that. Sorry to add a small rant into your thread. The word ‘recognized’ was a trigger for me. It doesn’t tell me what I really want to know. Hope that makes some sense.

Your theory knowledge is more than sufficient to get a start into what I’m talking about. Look inside the file pgshortc.txt and notice how many chords are changed internally to a 2 chord.

Agreed that this could be marked as Resolved.
Also, I agree with the issues created when chords are changed internally, resulting in 'What you want is not what you get' - which is often quite undesirable.

Matt, I don't consider your questions as a rant. I'm questioning if the questions will generate the views, responses and discussion in the wishlist forum section that the questions merit.

I've marked the thread as resolved.

Good, Jim.

I’ll try again some future time to see if this can get clarified and changed.
