Ouch .... 🥵 I am so sorry, my bad.

Got a minute?

I’ve got to give you a big ol’ round of applause for your ability to crank out those top-notch masters without breaking a sweat (or maybe you do break a sweat, but you make it look effortless!).
Also, thankyou for putting so much detail on your posts which I find to be very informative and helpful. So, do you have some top-secret audio production background, or did you just pick up these mad skills by sheer willpower and an unhealthy amount of coffee?
Meanwhile, I’m stuck in a YouTube tutorial vortex that’s given me nothing but muddy confusion and a deep psychosis. And don’t even get me started on the plugin rabbit hole I’ve tumbled into—I’m still trying to figure out how a compressor isn’t just a fancy name for a really tight pair of jeans.
Anyway, I tip my hat to your jaw-dropping production skills! There’s another virtuoso lurking around here who’s got skills that rival yours—what’s his name again? Oh yeah, Floyd!
I always look forward to your next production and thanks again for your lovely words.

You are too kind. Thank you. I started mixing with reel to reel in the late 60's then moved to 4 and 8 track cassette and then to digital in the mid 90's. BUT my skills, such as they are vastly improved when I joined this forum in 2012 and shortly thereafter J&B and floyd jane began what would become nearly one hundred collaborations. All meaning I owe him big time. And Janice has an amazing ear for dynamics and subtleties in a mix and a master and is a wonderful mix/mastering partner -- and life partner for last 44 years! Specifically regarding mastering FWIW we are completely down with Ozone ... and particularly using it with a reference song. Oh, and compression ... we use touches of it on tracks here and there but for mastering we much prefer Ozone's dynamic EQ which is IMHO similar but for less "invasive." Pardon the ramble and thanks again.

PS Regarding the loudness Soundcloud is one of the very, very few platforms that doesn't raise or lower tracks to certain standards. Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Amazon, Youtube and all the big players do that. So if you have a low volume track playing in SC and raise the volume for it the next track may be high volume to start with and boom! BTW check out www.loudnesspenalty.com It is free and requires no sign up and it will instantly analyze your song and tell you how much gain increase or reduction the major streamers would apply to it.
