MOURNING JOY

My daughter, Kat, wrote this song in 2009. It's about a close friend whose life was ruined by drugs.
The track I created back then was 100% midi. Recently, she asked me to give the BIAB treatment. Kat wrote the lyrics and the tune. I composed the music for the intro and the instrumental break.

Words & Music: Kat Raynor-McKay

Mourning your death, but you're still here
Lost along the way
The tide is rising but it won't
Wash away my pain today

Remembering a million tears
Frozen behind your smile
A drug masquerade
Used for a while

When forward I am looking
For someone I can blame
Maybe its you or me or he
Caused you such shame

Instrumental

Mourning your death, but you're still here
Lost along the way
The tide is rising but it won't
Wash away my pain today
