This song is guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of even the most dour listener. It is whimsy personified.
The band is great and sets the playful tone - love that mandolin - while the wry vocal sits perfectly on top.
Most enjoyable Vic.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Vic,

In my opinion, this is one of your very best songs. It is a truly delightful listen. As the song went along, it reminded me, in some ways, of Kris Kristofferson.

Your band is great - I suggest you bump their pay by a few pounds!

Alan

Thank you Mr. Cuny (to differentiate from Mr. Snyder).
For a mixture of humour and pathos, I don't think John Prine can be beat.
You should listen to the live performances. So unassuming and a natural talent.

Hi Vic,

Yeah, this is really you, although some call you Prine...
Well, maybe you are, because this sounds so genuine, with that nice rhythm and not to forget the lyrics!
I liked it from the start, noticed my feet moved enthusiastically to the beat.
And that means it's a good song!

How shall we call you from now on?

Hans

Thanks Al.
I hope the others were ok too. smile
As for the band: Nah!
All they do is sit around in a box waiting for me to think of something for them to do.

Ah, Prine is good anuytime, and so is this one, Vic. Outstanding lyrics!!! And the perfect presentation. That mando adds the perfect touch, and the fiddle keeps the feel fine.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Hans.
I have a hard time controlling my busy feet when I'm recording.
I used to think there was something wrong with the drum track. crazy

Vic...you have a knack of telling great stories with word pictures...I love the track (you always do that well too)...it does sound like something that Johnny Cash might cut...smooth-grit for sure...well crafted Americana sound and feel!

Thank you Andi.
It was actually a mandolin solo but I appreciate your comment.

Hi Dan.
"A picture speaks a thousand words".
Well, not quite that many but I get the idea.
I think John Prine said something about getting the right image in the first line or two.
Another songwriter, can't remember who, said to "show, not tell". I try.

Thank you and I'm glad you approve.

We definitely hear the Prine influence and that is a good thing!

The Mama’s reminder to wear clean underwear is a gem and can’t we all hear our mothers saying that? 😊

Nice vocals, mix and the acoustic band.

Good one, Vic!

Very clever write Vic.
You nailed the John Prine vibe.
Great vocal, lyrics, backing band, and mix.

PS - when I saw the title I thought it was a song about West Virginia!
