Well I came up with this one fairly quickly for me. It may need some adjustments, depending on your comments which are always gratefully received. I always enjoy the pleasent flow of your songs, Vic. You createded a catchy song from a great idea. And I always enjoy your delivery. The arrangement on this is particuarly good. I like how you end with the guitar, too.

Nice one, Vic. Love that instrumental opening, and it just kept getting better from there. World weary but self aware and not broken. That's a cool balance. Nice arrangement and instrument choices throughout, especially the electric guitar. Sometimes the best stuff just flows out, y'know?

Nice one, Vic. It has a flowing Americana folky kinda country feel. Perfect fit for those well-penned lyrics.

Really, really good song here. I love the instrumentation and the mix. The authentic, earthy vocals, too. Well done!

What a perfect example of America at its best. Great story and excellent portrayal thereof. This is also one of your best vocals.
If I may, one small suggestion for your consideration:
In the first line of the first verse, this came to mind: "I once was a wandering soul".
Keep or sweep as you choose.

This is smooth and lovely though I do have a small nit: the last note of the lead lick in the intro complicates your 1st sung note.

Thank you Al. I thought about your line but feel that "I used to be" better defines all his past than "I once was", which to me implies just one time in his past life. Also it has an extra sibilance trap in it for me.  Vic
