Christian & I collaborated on this years ago. I wasn't 100% keen on the vocal as it showed a bravado that I thought not quite the right match for the ingenue in my mental interpretation of the song. I did some editing and the song was re-posted a couple of years ago but it was rough work on my part. This week I revisited the song, and re-edited the vocal, with a little more nuance. I did a quick & very simple video to illustrate the song and, with Christian's approval, offer the update for your ears and eyes.

Hi Ray, The drums are unexpected for this style, but they work so nicely. Good call! I don't recall having heard the original post, but this version is terrific. That acoustic bass is a perfect fit.
Is that Alison's cello I hear in there? And that's a powerful lyric you penned. Glad you brought it back to life.
You and Christian cobbled a really great tune and production.
Ray, like this a lot. Very nicely produced and enough lyrical and musical twists to sustain the long-ish song form. Think the vocals are quite nice, though I see your point. The vocals are treated well in the mix and i like the little doubling and harmonies. Looked for the credits and lyrics from your previous post but couldn't find them in a search for this title. May want to repost. Enjoyed my listen!

Haha! When I pressed play and listened, I thought to myself what can I say about this as it sounded totally out of sync. I thought it may be some sort of weird fusion. Then I realised that I must have hit the link twice and there was a delay between the two playing.
Just the one sounds great though. I need to take control of my finger.
I'm still a bit new to this forum compared to most of you guys, so I'm glad you gave it another chance because I really like it. The backing tracks could have a bit more treble, but otherwise it's really well done. Good work from everyone involved
Ray You have a wonderfull thought provoking array of musical productions which I find interesting and entertaining. I decided to just listen without being analytical and just enjoy your music. And I did !!! Congrats, well done.
I do remember this song, or another version of it. That is because of the way Christian sings about that Morning (and pushed him from the stairs. Lyrics full of irony and (a kind of) despair. Love that! The music carries a somewhat mellow tone that fits wonderful with that singing. Very nice. While listening, one thought occurred to me: the vocals seem somewhat overpowering, and the music might benefit from additional expressive elements in certain parts (AI helped me with this line ;-)) For instance when she sang about pushing him from the stairs, a sudden break could have been nice. But overall; a good, 'fun' song.
Whatever roughness was there before isn't there now. Clean production and the vocal treatment gives it prominence without being drowning the band. Your singer reminds me a little of the singer from the Motels.
Ray, I'm glad that you didn't give up on this one. This sounds great. Super vocal supported by the perfect backing tracks. Super mix IMHO this is your best to date.

What a great feel, and very captivating vocals. I really enjoy your work on the mix of instruments --the choice of same as well. Man, this is so good. Listened several times already, and each one has more to like. "Mornings I drink coffee, brushing my hair." Who knew you two could make such a common phrase into a gem like this. So well done!
Enjoy whatever happens! marty

The video explains this song in great detail. I really love French chanson, and it has many excellent songs that sing about everyday life. Although this song is sung in English, I think it is one of them. By the way, the English lyrics of "My Way" are a song about the grandiose aspects of life, but the original song is called "Comme d'habitude" and sings about everyday life. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
This is a great version, the mix is classy and the vocals are outstanding. A lot to like.

This is fantastic! I love this. The band, the arrangement, the vocalist, the production! Everything about this had me mesmerised. Kudos to both you on creating such a fine presentation.
As mr jane said, "That vocal sounds great. It is drenched in all the right emotions." Could not agree more.
She makes us feel what is going on in the lyric - and we like your processing of her vocal
We much like the video and it well supported the song's overall vibe.
The band and mix are standout. Very cohesive and excellent dynamics.
Time well spent by you to renew this and we enjoyed the results!

Wow Ray and Christian. This is very good. I absolutely loved the production. Fantastic mix and I really liked those echoing BGV's, just right without being overdone. The words and sound of the lead vocal intertwine magically with the melody and instruments. This is some great work, congratulations on an excellent project.
Hi Ray, Hi Chris It's rare to find a song in 6/8! Excellent title and I really liked the mandolin and the violin (alto?) Also the change of key at 3'05" unexpected. And the guitar notes highlighted between 3'36" and 3'40". Very beautiful, very clean, very pro
